Trigger Warning
This story contains graphic violence as a reoccurring theme. Please read with caution if you are easily offended by violence.
Description
As of Generation 8, there are 898 Pokemon. Allen had played every edition of the game since a kid and was a competitive player. Although he didn't have every name memorized, if he saw one, he knew what it could do.
Forcibly brought into a different realm, he finds himself in a violent, vicious version of Sinnoh. There are no duplicates of any Pokemon, but all 898, scattered across the region, are attempting to kill off humanity. Everyone in this world only has knowledge of the first 4 generations of Pokemon, but all generations exist in the wild, ready to kill.
Prologue: Welcome to the World of Pokemon
It was another long walk in the rain. Of course, it was, like I'd ever been able to afford a car. My hair became slick and dripped over my face as I made my way through the park. The trees would whistle in the wind as the grass swayed back and forth. I always worried when it rained hard like this that the lake in the distance would flood over.
For a brief second, the heavy rain stopped. I looked up only to see an umbrella being held above me. With a swift turn, I found myself looking down at a short woman with long pigtailed hair. She seemed a lot better dressed for this weather than I-- wearing an oversized yellow raincoat. Her umbrella was large enough for the two of us easily.
"You don't know me sir... But I know you. In a different world, in a different life, you doomed everything." She said with a grim look on her face.
"Excuse me, what?" I laughed. The pigtailed woman with a yellow raincoat dropped her umbrella and unsheathed a gun. Aiming the barrel at my head, she practiced no trigger discipline and twitched her finger on the trigger.
"Not so funny now-- is it? Empty your pockets. I see what you've got there."
"Listen, I don't have any money! It's not worth it to kill me, you'll regret it!"
"I don't wanna listen to your sob story, empty your fucking pockets!" I emptied my left pocket. Nothing but my keys. As soon as my hand reached to my right, I felt a heavy electronic.
"Take it out." The woman demanded.
"It's just a Nintendo Switch," I replied, "Nothing important." The woman inched closer with the gun. I tried to back up but realized after she advanced that it might be better to stay put. She snatched my Switch out of my hand and began to examine it.
"Good. It still exists. You're lucky, Allen. You get another try." She smiled.
Before I could question her or turn away to run, a strange shock sensation went through my body. I looked down at a strange itching on my stomach. Blood drained from a hole in my stomach, and as I realized it was a gunshot wound-- unfathomable pain rushed throughout my body. I dropped to the ground and screamed. Loud, eardrum-shaking shrieks escaped from my mouth. Before long, I had passed out.
"Sir... Sir...?" A voice spoke to me. I was shaken out of my unconsciousness. I opened my eyes and looked up at a group of men wearing bulletproof vests and white capes decorated with red x's. They stood next to large pine trees, which were not there post unconsciousness. The lake next to me seemed much larger. I looked down at my stomach-- and there was no gunshot wound.
"He's awake..." One of the men said with a sigh and explained "We're not sure why you're asleep in Lake Verity, but it's best you leave now. Our radars detect a powerful Pokemon nearby."
"Excuse me, did you just say Pokemon? Is this some sort of cosplay event? Where am I?"
"Look, we don't want to use force. Leave now." The caped man said as he unsheathed a broadsword. I put my hands up in front of my face to signal I didn't want any trouble-- and was dumbfounded. My hand was a rendered 3D model. It was as detailed as a real hand but was uncanny enough to resemble a game.
Chapter 1: The First Battle
The scarlet sky of the evening world reflected on the waves of Lake Verity. Red X's embroidered onto capes flowing in the cold breeze, and the swords of the soldiers radiated with light from the sun.
"A powerful Pokemon? O-oh. Are you going to catch it?" I asked.
"Catch? Are you insane? Do you know how powerful Gyrados is? You've got to go now. There's no such thing as catching a Pokemon."
I took a moment to think of myself. Gyrados was programmed to be in Lake Verity in Generation Four, however, nothing to seemed to align with the order of events in the games I played. There was no such thing as catching Pokemon, one of the most crucial keypoints of what I knew. The strange faction of people with white capes and red crosses, and the medieval weaponry, were all completely different than the Sinnoh I knew. However, the details of lake verity were impeccably accurate. The lake was large enough that you could not see all of it due to its immense distance. The water would fade in the far distance. As the lake waves collided with the ground they slid down slopes of mud, which acted as a border for the lake. To my left there were tall grasses where-- in the actual games, a Pokemon would hide. What would be a reasonable way to explain that I knew nothing of this strange world I was transported into?
"I... have amnesia! I don't know... anything> Where am I?!" said. It was a fake story that seemed to be enough to get them to explain the details of this strange world.
"Pokemon are vicious monsters that inhabit this world. There are estimated to be around 900 of them. They have human-like healing factors, and most injuries will effect them at the same rate as a person. However, their power is otherworldly. I can... discuss more later. But for now, you've got to leave.." One of the caped men said. He had a light brown bowl cut which swayed to the side, and green eyes that seemed a bit more blue in the light.
I reached my hand out to grab the hand of the man who directed me. I noticed that he had a wooden bow attached to a sheath on his back, and a quiver filled with arrows to the side.
"I'll get to safety now. What is your name, Sir?"
"Reginald. Time is of the essence. Run now."
The water of lake verity began to rise. rapidly in explosive sprouts. Heavy bursts of water rose from the lake and swept the five of us off of our feet.
"Get to cover!" Reginald screamed as he tried to get up and stay on balance. The lake continued to flood out rapidly, until the water was up to our necks. Powerful currents swept us to the tall grasses, where the flooding water began to fizzle out.
A soldier with dark black hair came swimming to the dry part where Reginald and I were. A spiral of intense wind fell from the sky, forming into a cylone. The cyclone began to rip apart at the soldiers flesh, who reached out in agony as his body was ripped limb from limb.
"No, no!!!" He shouted with the full force of his lungs as his bloody remains were thrown across the lake. By the time he hit the water, he was nothing more than a mutilated corpse.
"What the fuck was that?! What's going on?" I hyperventilated.
"I told you to get out of here!" Reginald said, reaching behind to unsheathe a bow. Both his bow and arrows ]inside of the quiver on his side were damp from the water he was just submersed in.
"Everyone, cover your ears! It's going to boomburst!" Reginald commanded. Two of the remaining soldiers listened, and I instinctively followed.
Standing at around 25 feet tall, a red serpent with eastern-dragon like whiskers and scales rose from the lake depths. The Pokemon known as Gyrados let out a deathly shriek. Even with my ears covered, it was loud enough to hear and shake my eardrums. The two soldiers who did not cover their ears gave one good look at each other as blood drained from their ears. They fell to their knees and had their heads explode into fountains of blood.
Reginald took a deep breath as he slotted the arrow into the bow. His eyes widened and eyebrows furrowed, and as he pulled the arrow back, electricity began to sprout from his palms. The electric current intensified until his entire body was covered in crackling lightning.
"Thunder!" Reginald screamed as he let go of the arrow. As it shot and spiraled through the air, it transformed into a large bolt of lightning. The lightning struck the Gyrados where it stood. The Gyrados flailed and screamed as the lightning climbed it's body. Cooking it inside out, the deadly Pokemon disintegrated into dust.
The dust fell like rain across the flooded grassland. The bodies of the dead soldiers, the flooded grassland, the purple sky nearly descended into night.
The battle was won...
