    [PokeCommunity.com] 1/29 - COTD - Tropius (EX: Dragon Frontiers)

    Rate & Review.

Thanks to Water Pokemon Master from www.pokebeach.com for the scan.

I might start and EX series themed month or week until the first scans of Power Keepers are revealed.

This card, if constantly handed and benched turn after turn, disrupts Tyranitar ex!

I like the attack, it can virtually do infinite damage... But it gets too expensive to make Tropius do a decent ammount of damage...

^ Not really, a couple of Boost Energy and Holon Energy and you're talking 80+ damage.

^ Not really, a couple of Boost Energy and Holon Energy and you're talking 80+ damage.

Holon Energy must return an energy back to a hand (and it's highly ER2able) so only provides a 1 energy attachment per turn.
Boost energy is discarded after use and can't be attached to basics. ;)

Eitherway, Grind isn't a good attack. It's an expensive attack, requiring a [M] but also does 10x for the energy. Nowhere near as good as some other 'Grind's in comparison (Dark TTar basically). Doing 30 for 3 Energy isn't good, to do a large amount of damage means lots of energy, but this is slow to attach, despite Tropius having a nice HP and [M] benefits.

It's only ever used for Tropical Heal, 1 is often teched in where the Metagame is heavy with the new exs or for removing status conditions - thanks to many trainer cards, it is easy to get out.

Stats are good - but not a card that should be over relied on for attacking.

I'd rather play this card as a trainer than as a Pokemon...

Whenever your other pkmn get marked with random markers, put down one of these and scoop it up isn't such a bad idea.

However, it's attack is so not an attack... Although it can do inf damage but it's basic requirement is a M energy, which you can only have 4 in a deck, and its base damage is only 10x not 20x like the usual energy spammers (Crawdaunt ex, Dusclops ex, etc.)... If you really want to put all 4 M's onto him to tank/stall in early game, then go for it, but I must say it's such a wastage of M energy, because they can serve their purpose much better on other cards... (It won't be such a bad attack if it were D type instead.)

HP is not bad for a basic, and only 1 RC, but its R weakness and no F resistance are major cripplers...

5.5/10 - Great power, but useless attack - better served as a utility card.

It's a pity that this is pretty much the only SW/Imprison counter at the moment. As a Pokémon it's fairly useless and it makes a terrible starter if you happen to get it as that. I might tech it in if Gardy gets really popular in the local metagame, but I'd rather avoid it. Hopefully we'll get something else to counter SW/I soon (they're just broken x_x).
