    [PokeCommunity.com] 10/15 - COTD - Bastiodon (DP: Mysterious Treasures)

Thanks to Water Pokemon Master from www.pokebeach.com for the scan.

Ahh...the irony. Bastiodon's poorly considered weakness undermines its usefulness once more. Bleah, that +40 fire weak is pretty much a death sentence for the poor thing thanks to Infernape. xP

Other than that, not too bad. 130 HP is acceptable for a 2nd stage, 3 RC obviously isn't nice but it's to be expected. The pokebody and attack form quite an interesting combination since they create considerable trouble for directly damage-oriented strategies. Protective Wall blocks bench hitters while Anger Revenge (Lame naming practices ftw!) really discourages opponents with benched pokemon from casual bapping, which will buy you time to build up a heavy hitter or two on your own bench. The fact that it's a fossil evolution isn't too much fun, though. Ah, well...

5/10 interesting concept and true to the original species but that huge fire weak really screws it over. :\

In contrast to what teh previous person said, this has some potential since Infernape is becoming less popular. Sure an Infernape can easily KO this, but Empoleon is also a popular card following worlds which has reduced the number.
Following on, its body protects your benched from attacks from Empoleon and Lucario, acting as quite an effective counter and making it more playable.

    7/10

Water always finds a way to stay in the game, doesn't it? As the more broken cards in major tours seems to be those (Base Blastoise, Downpour Gatr, Legends' Milotic, etc.)

Well, I have to admit, that Body-power is nice. Because that kind of power usually requires the Poke to be Active, so I'm glad that isn't the case, here. And 40 Benched Damage isn't anything to dismiss, making your opponent think twice about attacking.

But, yes, that attack name has got to go. 8/10.
