Another Way of Battling
Frostweaver
He was ready. This year, he would be triumphant and claim the title of being a Pokemon Master. With all the harsh training that he had gone through with his Pokemon, nothing could stop him?
He was invincible.
He adjusted his limited edition red and white official Pokemon League cap, twitching his long, yellow, pointy ears. Six red and white spheres known as Pokeballs were safely attached to his belt, with all of its inhabitants eager to battle and win the title. As everything was ready, he walked out into the stadium?
<><><>
?And there he is folks! It?s Pikachu from Pallet Town!? applauded the announcer Meowth, who was up in the control tower, watching over the Pokemon stadium. His golden charm on his forehand glittered as the crowd roared. The stadium was full, with every seat in the dome occupied. Who didn?t want to take a look at the final showdown for this year?s Pokemon League?
?Pika pika!? replied Pikachu to the excited crowd. He waved to the audience with his short stubby hands. But soon Pikachu fixed his gaze upon the other side of the rectangular battlefield, waiting for his victim to come out into the field.
?Me-owth! And here we have a powerful Pokemon trainer all the way from Hoenn! Please welcome, Treecko!? exclaimed the announcer as the audience looked down at the dirt-floored battlefield. A trainer in green calmly walked out into the light, with a small twig in its mouth and hands crossed in front of him. His eyes were shut as he continued the short walk to the trainer?s assigned position in the field. He opened his yellow lizard eyes, and spat out his twig as he glared down at Pikachu, his opponent.
?Humph!? grunted Treecko as he wagged around his green tail in Pikachu?s direction, mocking his opponent. Pikachu retaliated by sticking out his tongue and doing a ?thumps down? sign with his hands? err or so it seemed to be a ?thumps down? sign as all four of Pikachu?s fingers looked identical anyway. Treecko started to insult his opponent, while Pikachu did the same.
?This is truly exciting folks! The trainers are even trashtalking to each other! This will be one exciting ---?
?Wobbaffet!!!? Meowth?s speech was soon interrupted as his sidekick Wobbuffet popped out of nowhere and screamed into the microphone. The interruption confused the crowd. Regardless, the trainers took a step back, and soon the crowd fell silent, waiting for the display of true Pokemon training skills soon to be demonstrated by two professional trainers. The battle looked very promising.
And the battle started off as the trainer from Hoenn took out a Pokeball and threw it up high into the sky directly above him. As the ball was on its way down, the trainer jumped up and whacked the ball towards the battlefield with his tail in an elegant manner, earning a few ?wow? from the audience. Upon contact with the dirt-floor, the sphere opened and red energy was unleashed. A Pokemon appeared into the scene, wearing a green t-shirt with a pair of glasses that was horrible in taste of fashion. The Pokemon looked at Pikachu, and then turned his eyes away in an arrogant manner, as if battling Pikachu would be a waste of his time.
?And what a predictable move! Treecko chooses to lead off the battle with a Max, a Pokemon given as a starter for all trainers in Hoenn!? Meowth announced, with Wobbuffet popping out and shouting ?Wabbaffet!? against the microphone again. The announcer?s sidekick seemed to be agreeing with what Meowth had just said.
Pikachu grinned as this was all within his prediction, and now he?ll prove Treecko that he wasn?t the only one with Hoenn starters. The trainer from Pallet reached down to his belt to take out a Pokeball, twisting his cap around backward on his head as he raised the Pokeball, and threw it to the battlefield with all his strength. Another Pokemon, wearing a red bandana with brown hair materialized before the crowd. The Pokemon got ready to battle, dusting off her red jacket and dark colored pants in the mean time.
?Pikachu uses a May, also a starter Pokemon from Hoenn! Me-owth this will be a display of power between two Pokemon from Hoenn!? declared Meowth from the control tower. But this time the audience could no longer hear irritating voices from Wobbuffet, as his mouth was duck tapped by the announcer who could no longer tolerate those annoying interruptions time after time.
At the hand signal of her trainer, May took the initiative to begin the Pokemon match. She walked towards Max a bit, but then suddenly fell down to the floor on her knees. What could she be doing?
?Oh we?ve walked around for so long already! It has already been a whole hour! Can?t we go take a break now? I mean, look I?m just so tired, hungry and thirsty! We should go take something to eat and drink!? wailed May. Max began to take a few steps back, seeming to be confused at the situation, not knowing what to do.
?Amazing!? shouted Meowth. ?May?s signature move, Whine Attack, is working! Max is now confused!? Treecko who also realized this, looked worried. He took out Max?s Pokeball and stretched out his arm, but then after a few seconds, crossed his hands in front of him again.
?And Treecko decides to stick with Max! Let?s see if da Nerd Pokemon can break out of confusion!?
Seizing this opportunity, Pikachu quickly ordered his May to attack Max to try to score a quick knockout. However, May just stood there, looking out at the endless sky, ignoring the commands.
?Now Pikachu pays the price of using a May in battle! May?s ability, Daydream, does not permit May to attack consecutively!? exclaimed Meowth, as the audience was shocked. May just stood there with her eyes gleaming, daydreaming. While May was being idle from her Daydream ability, Treecko?s Max had shook himself out of confusion! It looked like it was ready to battle once again.
?Oh May you?re just so stupid! You have never won a Pokemon battle without amazing luck! You?re such a loser!? said Max as he pointed at May, staring at her with accusing eyes. May was startled and horrified at the harsh comments. She stumbled backward and lost her balance, falling to the ground.
?There it is! The Put Down attack of the Insult Element! Looks like May was badly injured by that attack!? said Meowth, amazed at the attack?s power. Pikachu countered as he decided to use a Super Potion on his Pokemon. May?s health was restored. However, Treecko and his Pokemon kept up the pressure on Pikachu and May, as Max started talking to himself.
?It is obviously a grass type! Who doesn?t know that? ?I also know that it weighs exactly 18.7lbs being 2?07? tall! See, I know everything!? said Max as May stared at him at complete confusion. She tried her best to understand, but to no avail. Then her eyes started to turn into swirls and she was getting dizzy.
?Me-owth! And Max the Nerd Pokemon live up to his name with the ?Useless Facts? attack! Can May survive this one??
Pikachu was worried as sweats rolled off his forehead and his red cheeks. He tried to call out to his Pokemon but the disorienting words from the Useless Facts attack clogged up May?s mind, making the command useless. Soon after, the female Pokemon fell over and collapsed.
?Pika!? said Pikachu; angry at how he lost the first round as he returned the fainted May. His opponent Treecko laughed at him as he put his twig back into his mouth.
?And the first round goes to Treecko! The Nerd Pokemon?s training is top-notch!? declared Meowth as the audience roared in approval. Then everyone looked at Pikachu to see what would he use to counter Max...
