    Right, this is a question that has been plaguing a lot of people for quite a while now. Will Eevee evolve into Espeon/Umbreon if traded over to Ruby or Sapphire?

    I'm asking for volunteers to test this theory out. All you need is:
    1 copy of Fire Red or Leaf Green, containing at least one spare Eevee (Breed with Ditto if necessary). Also, you must have the Ruby and Sapphire plates to be able to trade between FR/LG and R/S.
    1 copy of Ruby or Sapphire
    1 Link Cable (for trading)
    A lot of patience.
    I would try this myself, but FR/LG still isn't out here yet.

    First thing to do, once you have the ability to trade between FR/LG and R/S, trade your Eevee over to R/S. Next thing to do is to build up the Eevee's happiness - no need to do it before you trade, because happiness resets when you trade. There are a number of ways to do this - by levelling, by feeding it vitamins, or by letting it win contests. Leave it in your party at all times. Don't let your Eevee faint or lose the contest, because that will lower the happiness level.

    Ok, if it evolves, let us all know. Who's up to test out the Eevee experiment?
     
    Hmmm...I'll try it. I gave my Eevee to my sister. I'll just...borrow it. I already made 6 Eevee eggs before trading it over to my sister's Ruby.

    Okay, my sister's Ruby cart Eevee evolved into Espeon at level 72 (I gave it to her at level 31 from my LG cart like last week)....but it's 6:30P.M. here so shouldn't it of evolved into Umbreon?

    Anyway...I entered in a few codes into my Sapphire rom to get an Eevee with max happiness in my PC. I leveled it up and it became an Umbreon at 6:40P.M. I got 10 more Eevees and they all became Umbreons as well.

    So..it DOES evolve..just not sure if time has anything to do with it anymore since my sister's became an Espeon at night...maybe it's Ruby=Espeon and Sapphire=Umbreon...eh..whatever...I jsut know they evolve.

    EDIT: Oh and here's a screenshot of my Sapphire rom Eevee becoming an Umbreon.

    Wow, that was fast work. So, at least the mystery is confirmed now, you can get an Eevee to evolve the same way as G/S/C.
     
    It evolves with certain values. Personality Values, Gender Values and Nature Values. These all have certain numbers, and when added up have another number. Espeon's number lies within a certain number, whereas Umbreon's lie in another range. I think Espeon's is the bottom few, whereas Umbreon is the top, but I have to do more research into that. It's quite a coincidence that all the Eevee evolved into Umbreon in Sapphire though.... :/
     
    Wow, my question finally answered! Unfortunately, I boosted up my Eevee on LG two complete times to happiness, hours and hours of work thanks to Nintendo's confusing guide.. ^^;; I posted over the last couple days with no final answers and now at least I know that its confirmed. ^.^

    I have all the games so I'm going to be testing both the Umbreon and Espeon theories.. looks like I need to breed some eggs first and then start my quest.. I do know that Espeon is daytime and Umbreon is nighttime.. ^^;; I'll keep everyone posted. ^.^

    Well, I bred my Umbreon from Colosseum with Ditto (traded from FR) in Ruby, resulting in an Eevee of quiet nature. I leveled up to 14 and then gave it some pokeblocks for beauty since it has that quiet nature. Then I entered it in the Normal and Super rank Beauty contests and won somehow (it has no beauty moves). Then, I gave it 2 of each Calcium, Carbos, Iron, Protein, Zinc and HP Up. Then, I leveled it up once more and it evolved into Umbreon at 10:45 AM. :surprised
     
    Update!!

    Okay, I went ahead and got a level 5 breeded Eevee over to Ruby..
    To bring up his status with me, I bred 6 misc eggs and hatched each one while Eevee was in my group (first of course) ; I leveled Eevee to 25 (from level 5) and kept checking his friendship status.. I didn't use any vitamins, pokeblocks, etc. While letting the eggs hatch, I still kept Eevee in first place and just ran around until they hatched.

    When in level 25, I went ahead and leveled him to 26, which is when he evolved. Now, during the AM time (5:15 to be precise) , it's Umbreon. During PM, (12:10 to be exact) I have an official Espeon. ^.^

    Hope this helps, but it shows you can get either on Ruby. ^.^
