Hello Everyone!
LAST UPDATED: April 14, 2012.

- Just edited a good portion of this with new needs, new changes, etc. Currently we've made a lot of progress on the story, and the entire map minus 2 custom areas has been mapped and linked. Though we still need Spriters, we are making progress everywhere else we can with what we have. No worries, even if we never get spriters, we will finish this game. Its just going to take Diagostimo and I longer since we are both doing the majority of the work, so please, have some patience and sorry for the wait. Expect ScreenShots in the next few days and Video hopefully in the coming weeks or prior.

This game is using the MANGA as a base. Not the Anime. The Storyline will have its differences, so don't expect 100% copy and paste. This story is custom, there are plenty of famaliar faces with a good deal of new ones.

Below I'm going to have the basics out, and in spoiler/quotes will be the Deep information for those heavy readers. Please Post whether you would like me to post more story summary, more skill or ability clarification, or anything you may have questions on. There is more story developed then listed and I have much of the gameplay ideas and everything scripted just not yet implemented, so please ask away.

Features it Will have:
-Kanto Region Revamped! Will have a very Different Look, aswell as many different areas. (Mt. Silver, Pure Ceo, Various Hidden Explorable Areas, Etc.)
-Tales of Battle System ( Think Star Ocean, Tales of Etc )
-Customizable abilities that make every playthrough and character different!
-Battle Alongside Misty, Brock, and many more of your Favorite Pokemon Stars!

Story: This is basically Pokemon 15 Years Later from Red/Blue/Yellow Version. This story will take place in Kanto ( The first region only), with similar faces, such as RED and GREEN (Ash and Gary) As well as many others from the Manga.

What Are the Major Differences Between this and Pokemon ->Color Here<-:
-Customizable Battle System, Interactive, not a generic RPG battle system. Abilities, Combos, The mart doesn't sell pokeballs and potions, instead it will be completely revamped for a RPG game such as this.

-Story Completely different, not just different gym leaders and such, but an entirely different effect in general.

-You're NOT a Trainer. I've been getting alot of mixed reviews on My game because people like the idea, but hate the fact that you're not catching pokemon in this one. I'd go into detail, but I really dont want to express much of my plans outside my team. You will have pokemon and some may very well fight along side you of your choice, but you do not have to catch 151 pokemon, nor is that really a part of this story. Pokemon are Evil in this game, and if I were to say much more, it would be major spoilers. :X

-The story is Rich, and calculated. This game isn't vague, like most Pokemon games where you just battle trainers and catch pokemon. There's a plot, you have a mission, and its very customizable. The aspect of battling alongside pokemon is still available, since you may either choose to have pokemon fight with you or just solely use their abilities in combat, or even a mixture of both.

-Various Allies help you along your Journey, such as Gym Leaders, Famous Trainers, Elite 4 Members, Champions, and even Pokemon.

What I need help With:
Overworld Pokemon/Trainer Sprites
-Need someone who can make/Edit these like a stud.

Battle Sprites
-Just like above, only for the battle scenes. Obviously since its tales of eternia, fighting and each movement will need to be made, So its a lot of work and I really want someone committed to doing this if they want to do it.
Custom Map Tiles/ Map Maker who can do both ^^
These need to look good. They need to match the pokemon feel of the particular gen design i'm using which would be around HG/SS, but of course if they look good we can make it work with w\e.




What is Pokemon Dark Sky?:

You start out just like your average pokemon. Some Prof is giving you the basics, you choose your sex (Boy/girl) and name.
This time, you're asleep, in your room, dreaming. Through the dreams you realize that tomorrow you begin your journey as a Pokemon Trainer, and you are thinking of the pokemon you should choose as you sleep.( Sound famaliar? ). Then, Outside, you hear a roar mixed with numerous screams, and instantly you awake to find a Charizard razing your village, as well as murdering your neighbors. Bewildered, you hop out of your bed and the story unfolds. More below...

This is a Fan made pokemon game, i'll give credit to everyone once i'm about to release demo because theres alot of kinks I need to work out before the gem (hopefully) is produced, and everything is kinda spread out through my folders, not exactly sure what I'm going to use yet or not.

Think of this as taking place in RED/BLUE/GREEN/YELLOW version, only 15 years into the future. (Meaning more areas (Mt Silver, Seafoam Islands, Etc), More Cameos, and more people in general! :D )

Recently Moved to Pallet Town. Long before his birth, there was a prophecy given that a Child from the village Pure Ceo, a supernatural race that lived in the clouds, would be the only one capable to stop the destruction of Kanto that would come to pass in the near future. His mission was delivered to him when he was young and showed his flashes of power at such a young age. When he had reached young adulthood, he was sent to Pallet Town to be groomed in the Kanto Lifestyle, to develop relationships with the Kanto people. As the months passed, the fateful night finally came the day before DARK was going to embark with TEAL in search of Pokemon, to become Pokemon Masters. But instead, the very pokemon they sought were attacking and laying siege on Pallet Town.

Rival/Neighbor(boy)(name = Teal) age 15(Growth)

Green's Son( Gary's Son ). He's laid back, calm and cool. Never saw his dad (Green) because he was always journing to become stronger then RED. RED became a father figure to TEAL because he visited Pallet Town regularly to see Oak, Teal, and Dark. Befriended DARK after he moved in after RED's mother passed. Both DARK and TEAL planned to go on a pokemon journey together, but plans were cut short when a Charizard attacked their village prior to their leave, closing the door on one journey, but opening a different door to a different journey.

Professor Oak(Trainer/Professor)
age: 65

Now Quite Old, his legacy in tact, he merely collects data and shares insight amongst the other Various Professors. Unfortunately, with the recent attack on mankind, Power has been lost and the ability to contact others is gone. Will Oak be pressured to reveal his secrets or will his key information go unsaid?

RED (Fighter)
(Yes, THAT red!) age: 25 ( yes, this would be a good 15 years after he began his journey.)

RED is serious, determined, and precise. His decision making is strong, solid and rarely hasty. Losing all his Pokemon to the Darkness, RED turned his attention to taking care of civillians. Alone, near the middle of Kanto with vulnerable civillians and no pokemon, will RED survive long enough for DARK & others to make it in time or will they be too late to aid their final stand?

BLUE(Evolver)
(Yes, THAT blue!) age: 26

Mother of Teal. After journeying "Alongside" Red and Green pulling mischievous stunts here and there, her efforts to aid both of them proved successful numerous times. As of now, Red has had no contact with Green or Blue, so no one can really be sure as to if Blue is in Kanto, or even alive.

GREEN(Trainer)
(Yes, THAT Green!) age: 25

Father of Teal. Red's rival since they both began their journeys. Though, after a while, Both him and Red encountered something that they only shared with Oak. They concluded that it should not be shared with anyone else, and both Red and Green suffered in their own ways. Teal believes his father never came around because he doesn't care, but could that really be the reason?

There will be many other appearances of various pokemon characters from the manga and game. Also, I plan on including cameo's from other games - still trying to figure how i plan to link the story.

---ALOT MORE OF THE STORY IS COMPLETE, I'VE ONLY SHOWN THIS AS NOT TO SPOIL/ RUIN THE GAME.---​

Many NPC's in various cities will have the opportunity to aid you in your journey, temporarily or permanently. Thinking of doing it like how star ocean does it, you can have 8 characters in that game but you encounter 10+ and have to choose who you want. Might change it up but i like that idea of everyone playing the way they want to play their journey.

You wake up in your room, only its not the morning and you're not starting an adventure. you wake up in the middle of the night to blood curdling screams, and you hurry downstairs to see your house trashed and flames everywhere. You make your way outside to find bodies laying in your quaint town, and taken aback you frantically wonder about your parents and your rival. Not locating your parents, you quickly change your focus on your Rivals burning house, which you enter and find him stuck under fallen rubble. He tells you to get help, and so you do, heading to the Lab to find the remaining survivors Grouped together, weapons at hand. (skipping a bit ahead) After the scare is over and your Rival is safe, you and the survivors discuss the events and come to the realization that it was pokemon that attacked your village. As soon as television begins to work again, you realize that this is happening everywhere, and you want to know why, but most of all you want to know what happened to your parents (Whom were not discovered in the town). All of the pokemon in the game are evil, and you are not trying to catch any of them.(For the most part, anyway. Wont go into to much detail yet, but I presume many questions will sprout so i'll try my best.. x_X)

Battle System and Skills:​

It will not have the generic battle system of a pokemon game, instead it is Going to resemble Something close to Tales of Eternia.

In terms of skills, I will briefly explain how you acquire skills and what they do.
charizard scale -> Teaches Flamethrower.

(SPECIAL) - Abilities will fall under either the Physical, Special, or ??? Type. Flamethrower is a Special move that is a high damage move that requires a moment to charge, unleashing waves of flames with a high chance to burn the target, dealing extra damage per second. In terms of armor, it will function like a legend of zelda game where instead of buying equipment, you will meet or defeat people that will give you extra equipment that will alter your character, how many abilities you can junction, stats, etc.

we're only using the pokemon from Kanto, and each pokemon gives an ability, some give more then one, trigger abilites, innate abilites, or passives.

For example, Charizard giving flamethrower is an ABILITY. this move, think of it like a spell. you push a button, it charges and casts. Now, lets compare that to Sandslash which gives Sandslash's claw which teaches you Slash. Slash is an INNATE Effect, or a PASSIVE. This move is not an ability like Charizards flamethrower. There will be a default normal attack button, a powerful attack, and the special or spell buttons which would junction your abilities depending on how many you had.

The INNATE effects vary, but SLASH provides you with an extra ground combo to your power attack. For example, you may interchange a normal attack, a powerful attack, and a normal attack in an attacking combo, all equalling to 3 normally. Your base combination is 3 at the beginning, letting you use a variety of combinations such as a skill, regular attack, powerful attack. When you equip slash, it provides a 4th attack that uses the SLASH move at the end of your fighting combination move. The ability SLASH only triggers on the 4th new hit, and only when the 4th hit is the power attack. when used, the 4th hit will slash the opponent dealing extra damage with a high chance of landing a critical strike.

Some moves are innate effects like slash that trigger when you attack and extend the amount of attacks dealt, while some are actual abilities that may be used in juction with regular attacks or on their own.

(Tiler): I need destroyed terrain/ burned buildings/ frozen buildings/ etc. Think, if pokemon attacked a town, what would it look like? Thats what I'm going for. We need someone who can edit pokemon buildings/ terrain and make destroyed areas, dead NPC sprites, flames, Ice, burned buildings, etc.


(Spriter): Only need 1-2 more good Spriters! Need to be able to make ABS Sprites in a 4x4 set for RPG XP. This is really the only area we need help in to keep progress going. Please, If you're interested don't hesitate to contact me. Please be good at making overworld sprites or active battle sprites (Tales of, Star Ocean, Etc.)

Voice Actors:
Once the game starts rolling, the voice actors will get to test the game first and then they will be given their choice of who they would like to voice. I'm going to give my suggestion, but since we're a team we should all be in agreement.

I'm very intrigued by this idea. It's totally different from the cliche Pokemon fan game and adds a new depth to the Pokemon reality overall. I'd love to help, but I'm afraid my spriting isn't too great. I may be able to conjure up some destroyed looking buildings, but that may be about it.

Yeah, thats exactly what I was going for! didn't want to be just like every other fan game, not that their bad, I love most of them, I just needed a change from the cliche catch pokemon, battle gym leaders, etc etc.

Interesting. Finally a pokemon game with a good solid story line! No longer will we have to go through the tedious task of catching every Pokemon and beating every trainer! Though, we won't really know much at the beginning will we? You could maybe begin the story somewhere around the end. An in medias reis. This making it more intersting for the player. Also, I will voice act.

Well, you will get filled in a bit because the survivors of the town will discuss things in prof oaks lab, since everyone knows as much as you do, or so you think. This game isn't just going to focus on you, You may be the main character but there's going to be alot of side character development and exploitation. Thats not a bad Idea, I can always rework it to my liking, but I'm pretty solid on not much being known in Pallet Town, then you hit up Viridian get some more information, etc. Not going to say much more :P

That in medias reis is a good idea, its just that I have some massive plot twists that if I were to do something like that it may take away from that. Though I can think on it :D

Really need both of those. Thats fine, taking this game slow so i can minimize errors since its my first time, so hopefully things go well. :)

I'm using Curts Region Starter Kit, and just taking kanto and fully remodeling it with new additional areas, revamped terrain (Destroyed and newer gen). So, yea. I'd google curts starter kit, take those tilesets because that might be easier since i'm using those amongst others. (not using Poccil's.)
I'm not using alot of the grass tiles like the ones that = pokemon battle encounters because that's now how you'll get into a battle! you'll actually see the sprite of the pokemon on the map, depending on where you are, etc.
