    Singing in the R a i n

    A battle log by Karpman

So basically this is my first ever battle log against our furry Moderator of CBC, Wolflare. I was using a variant of the famous Rain Stall teams that everyone is beginning to use now, while Wolf was using Weatherless Bulky Offense. I got hax that helped me quite a bit, but overall it was a p cute match. Wolf gave me his log, so I'll be known as 'The foe' in this match, since I lost my own log. x___x

My Pokemon will be in this color
Wolf's Pokemon will be in this color
My Commentary and Strategy will be in bold.

    Ege is watching the battle.

I noticed that Wolf had no Weather Inducing Pokemon on his team, so I figured I'd put some pressure on him by leading with Politoed. I immediately chose Hydro Pump, wanting Rocks off of my field and knowing that whoever switched in would be hit hard.

A crit! Wow, definitely wasn't expecting that, but at least Wolfie didn't care about it much, but he soon would...because:

This is a Scarf Politoed, kids! A lot of Rain Teams only have Blissey/Chansey as a means of beating Thundurus, but I like to keep a backup and having a good revenge killer is always useful.

    Makan: lol

Decided to go to Eviolite Chansey here to absorb whatever special attack it planned to use and possibly set up SR to limit how many times his Scizor can switch in and out.

The foe's Chansey lost 59% of its health!

    Rain continues to fall!
    Makan: oh u
    wolf: ohh yeah

But he predicts it and Chansey loses a huge chunk of her health, no LO damage on it, so it must be Choice Locked, accordingly, I go to Ferrothorn.

It obviously does next to nothing, I decide to Spike next turn.

    The foe's Ferrothorn used Spikes!
Spikes were scattered all around the feet of wolf's team!

    Rain continues to fall!

Alright so he brings Scizor out, Quagsire is obviously my best answer to Scizor since Scald has the potential to burn and Unaware nulls any Swords Dance boosts. My Quagsire has 252 HP and Defense EVs with a Bold Nature, so it can obviously tank a hit from Scizor.

    Rain continues to fall!
The foe's Quagsire restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
    Makan: damn you!

It's evident that Wolf is using Choice Band Scizor, and Quagsire just took a big hit from it, clever move on Wolf's part. He probably knows my Quagsire is defensively EV'd at this point, so he brings in Latios to finish it off with Draco Meteor.

Ugh, wrecked, very smart play on Wolf's part and a foolish play on mine, now I lose my only means of defeating Latios if it's locked into Psyshock. At least Scizor dislikes the residual from Iron Barbs+Rocky Helmet.

Gotcha. I finally killed Scizor, which swings momentum greatly in my favor, I expect Latios to switch in, but instead he sends in Gliscor. I'm EV'd to outrun standard Gliscor and pretty much ready to sacrifice Tentacruel at this point, so I stay in and see what a rain boosted Scald can do, and perhaps null his Toxic orb with a burn.

This was actually one of the stupidest moves I made all game, because Wolf could have easily used Draco Meteor and dispatched Tangrowth, but luckily he stuck with Psyshock. Wolf is obviously pressured to switch out now and he knows he'll need Latios to break my stall.

Ho ho ho. Most Defensive Tangrowth only carry Hidden Power Ice and the STAB of their choice, but I decided to go with Earthquake over Leech Seed, as Tangrowth will be able to tank things like Infernape Flare Blitzes, in rain and then retaliate with Earthquake accordingly. In this instance, I managed to take out his Heatran, ultimately keeping rocks on my field and gaining me the advantage.

Obviously Wolf has not played Tangrowth very often, nor is he familiar with what sets Defensive Tangrowth use, Toxic Orb isn't really a huge deal, since Tangrowth has Regenerator and generally high bulk, plus the big chunk of HP that Hidden Power Ice took was so worth it. He'll probably go to Lucario now, but I figure I'll take the safe route and use Hidden Power Ice, again. My comment is lyrics from a song, if anyone was wondering.

    Makan won the battle!
    Makan: Great Game!
    wolf: good game
    Makan: ;(

    Props:
My opponent, Wolflare, for the great match.
Politoed, for pulling off that Perish Song and putting a ton of pressure on Wolf.
Postman, for the Battle Recap boxes, thanks, bro.
Undisputed, for the idea to use Rock Helmet Ferrothorn as a Pseudo-Antispin, and the RMT which provides the archetype for Rain Stall, as well as for Tentacruel's EV Spread. Major props to this user.

    Slops:
Quagsire, for being mediocre in bulk and prone to crits.
    Me, for critting Wolf's Latias.
*smogon.com link removed*, for not being real, so we all have to use Quag.
    Vrai, for being meen.
Wolf, for using skins with a Dark Background.

That was indeed a fun match! Looking back on it now, I should have used Close Combat with Lucario instead of Agility. But yes, good battle log. I don't have much criticism to offer though, I am not too experienced with logs.

Thanks Wolfie, in hindsight, maybe logging the match after would have been better, but oh well, this match was fun, too.

I see wolf is lurking in the shadows but not on PO.
Wolf gave me his log, so I'll be known as 'The foe' in this match, since I lost my own log. x___x
I find your lack of well-kept records disturbing.

Seeing wolf the madman / Devil getting destroyed is worth Karpman's impudent lack of records.
