I was considering writing a fan fiction for Pokemon. But if I was to introduce Pokemon to someone who has no idea what they were I had an issue.

Are there other creatures in the world of Pokemon, besides Pokemon? Like for example, what creatures do people eat, etc? I don't remember the anime that well... it's been years!

I believe they've mentioned animals in passing before, but I'm not 100% certain. I know they're not in the games at least.

Yeah, that's what has me curious. Since most people in the Pokemon world love Pokemon, I can't see them eating them... which makes me think there is another source of food.

From my knowledge this is literally the biggest Pokémon-related debate. They did make references here and there in Generation I, such as in RGB once a chef said he was cooking "eels au barbecue!" (I personally saw this when I was playing recently) and in the anime they mentioned hamburgers and apparently when Ash was on the SS Anne there were actual fish in the ocean. (I've never seen these occurrences but many people have told me about them.)
Personally I think there's a reason they stopped making real animal references (at least in the games). I think in Generation I it was all just testing the water to see if they really wanted to have animals in the Pokémon world, but that's really just my opinion.
It's up in the air, I don't really see hard proof in either direction.
Since I'm not much into the anime, I've only actually seen the people in the anime eating fruits, chocolate, et cetera . . .

In this world, plenty of people love animals but aren't vegetarians, so if Pokémon are regarded similarly to animals then I don't think that's a reason for there to be another food source.

Yeah, that's this world. The world of Pokemon is formed around happy values that appeal to children.

In the Cerulean Gym, there were fish shown when Ash went there. I believe in the first episode he went to Cerulean, he had a tour through the aquarium and there were just regular fish shown. I could be wrong...

I don't think you'd have too much of a problem talking about food when it comes to someone who's not "with it" when it comes to pokemon. You got Miltank and Tropius you can use from time to time. Your biggest problem is going to be trying to explain how Pokeballs, PokeCenters and the PC work. :P

Orrr you could say a wizard did it and leave it at that. :)

I think this belong in fanfic
but do not be tary, I'll help you as fellow Pokemon Fiction Enthusiast :)

regarding the subject "are there any creature beside Pokemon or is Pokemon is the animal in Pokemon World" Its really depend on your interpretation. Personally I think there aren't any creature beside pokemon not a people who think "Pokemon is loved in pokemon world, therefore they are not eaten there". Like Ineffable~, lot of people in our world love animals but they aren't vegetarian either. There are lot of culinary around the world that have dog meat in it.

Don't follow the anime since it is not canon. but if your fan fiction have to deal with something in the anime, that's different thing.
actually people won't pay attention that much unless you touch the subject. But its better if you prepare the answer before hand.

In a few of the first episodes, you could see birds flying around who weren't pidgey or spearow, they were black and sleek, like stereotypical birds are portrayed when flying over a forest or something. I can also remember that in an episode related to Misty and her gym, there was a tank with fish which were just normal fish, but later on in the anime these kind of things kind of disappeared, so I have no idea. I can also remember Ash and co eating hamburgers sometimes - the only source I can think of is a Tauros lol.

I just did a brief search:
    https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Animals

Looks like they technically do exist, in the game, manga, and anime. So I guess it would be accurate to say that other animals do exist.

    Ummm

    Why an Indian elephant? xDDDD

    It's not a species? I've always heard them as differentiated from African elephants...one is bigger than the other but I can't remember which is which. I always assumed they were a species. o.o;

That's what I assumed too. xD I think Indian elephants are bigger.

It's a subspecies. :3 (And smaller than the African variety.)

Yeah idk but for some reason whenever I heard about elephants I always heard about African elephants and Indian elephants and no other kinds.

So I guess they are trying to show how significant the abilities of Pokemon are by showing they could incapacitate an Elephant?
