    [PokeCommunity.com] 3/19 - COTD - Magnezone (Diamond & Pearl)

That's right. You are getting a glimse this week at some cards from the upcoming D/P card series with changed rules, format, and card layout! Enjoy Magnezone.

Thanks to Water Pokemon Master from www.pokebeach.com for the scan. Visit his up-to-date TCG site to see the new TCG rules for the D/P series. Just click on the Diamond & Pearl set on the side panel and scroll down until you find the new features.

    ...Nobody?

Well, then, let me be the first to rate a DP card. :P

120HP for a Stage 2 is good, seems to be average by DP's standards. Not good if it's against a Pokémon such as Infernape, though - a 90-damage attack would knock it right out without Special Metal Energy cards.

The Poké-Body works very well indeed, especially if you're using basic Metal Energy cards which can be easily distributed. Also, a lot of more powerful Pokémon (especially Stage 2s) have high RCs, so it's even more helpful.

The attack is average, though with a lot of Basic Metal Energy cards could be extremely powerful. Put on the three needed for the attack and you've got 80 damage there and then. Per turn.

The Retreat Cost shouldn't bother you unless you're flat out of Metal Energy cards, because then you can just retreat for free anyway, which is a mssive bonus for a Pokémon like this.

The Resistance isn't massive, really. I suppose losing 20 damage could help at times, but if you're up against a powerhouse it wouldn't really do much at all.

Overall...good card. Ups and downs, but generally one I think will do well in the 2007-2008 Modified format.

    8/10

o.0 ...What? They're already releasing them in the US...? Oh boy, time to start buying the cards again...

As for the review...ditto Cipher DSX.

Honestly, 80 damage per turn is nothing to laugh at for 3 basic energy cards. It's basically free retreat, and sticking on the most random metal energy on anyone gets free retreat, which I'm a big sucker on (rather have weaker attacks and keep the RC low.) HP is standard , on par with many other stage 2, so nothing can really go too wrong with it.

    It's not too fair to say that a 90 dmg attack will knock it out, since a 90 dmg attack basically knocks everything out in DP environment unless there's resistance o.o;

I like it a lot personally... it encourages unified deck type too with the power being an awesome one to really try to make the deck use metal energy to its full potential.

    8.5/10

    No, these are pre-release pics....

Well, that's obvious...I meant that they're already releasing pics of the cards, so the cards themselves shouldn't be that far off...

Aren't they suppose to come out at the same time or within one month of Pokemon DP game release as a boost sale to help out each other in advertisement...?

*shrug* I dunno about that. It seems to me that the R/S card set came out a while after the games themselves...
