    [PokeCommunity.com] 10/20 - COTD - Victreebel (EX: Fire Red & Leaf Green)

    Rate & Review.

Thanks to Water Pokemon Master for the scan.

The Pokebody looks good. 10 HP of damaged promised as long as Victreebel is the active Pokemon. Acid, 50 damage and it sures that your opponet can't switch the pokemon back for at least a turn. So with the Pokebody and attack, 60 HP of damage and can't retreat for one turn, sounds pretty good.

I think that this would be good against defending pokemon that has high retreat costs. But there's usially a way to get around that. I give this card a 7/10.

Added Notes: I was thinking about giving this card a 8/10, its got a good base with 110 HP and the Pokebody looks good. 50 damage attack with a reasonable status effect isn't that bad. But three energies seems kind of wierd for that....maybe its just me. I haven't been playing for a while though.

Very cool card! Strange art, but cool attacks!

Just a think I didn't get, for the Pok?-Body to work you need to have 2 Active Pok?mon and both need to be Victreebels?? Or you just have to got Victreebel as Active Pok?mon.

The weakness is the normal, usual one... The is no resistance... RC 2, is not bad, very cool indeed!

    7/10

Well, Mystic, you took the words out of my mouth. Hee.

I'll spare my review (8/10, lower because no secondary attack) but say two things.

Mystic, yes, three energies are reasonable, a stage two Pokemon with a strong attack and a power to match, three turns and it's good to go really. Although another attack would help deflate this, I agree. But it was a good decision overall.

QFred: The power refers to the absurd double battle format with two as active. One on one or normal gaming, you don't have to worry about that, otherwise, yeah, you need two for the power to continue. Of course, Nintendo has or will ban the double battle format, which was never popular anyway. So it's moot and a complete waste of ink.

    Don'tcha love Nintendo's logic?

DW: where are you getting this information from? I've been on both the Gym and the PUI forums, and haven't seen or heard anything bout that. Where did u get that from?

I was from my League at the end of last year (been taking a long hiatus) and I've heard a lot of rumors of the dissolving but it does not take a genius to see that Nintendo doesn't have a use for the double format. They've never promoted, never had a tour of it, it's so confusing, it's...why did they bother with it? It's a weird novelty that shouldn't have been done in the first place. I'm just going on logic and a given, I'm not saying fact because Nintendo is so wonky with their edicts (their omission of Unlimited tours in Origins), I don't know anymore.

But I feel that it will go quietly away. But if I said it fact and if it's not, I apologize. Wasn't my intent. Just pointing out to QFred that worrying about the rule is moot since no one enforces it anyway.

Right now, there are no apparant plans to dissolve 2v2 play, mostly b/c the competitive player base enjoys it as a nice break from the monotony of Unlimited and Modified. Unlimited isn't featured because those are not Nintendo-produced cards, and they would make no money from advertising them. They would rather spend their money advertising a format where people would use THEIR cards, as opposed to WOTC's cards; the Modified format.

I got my retorts to those edicts, but I'll say it on PM, since this is getting off topic.

One curiosity, what's with the 110 HP? Why not go the extra mile, they already did that when they wrote that extra HP (Last Victreebel was 90)?Just an odd number to me.

    Oh well.
