The Best Pokémon Game Ever?

If you were in control of Pokémon and could make the best Pokémon game ever, what would it be like? What would be absolutely perfect, addicting, and challenging in your opinion?

    Here's mine:

The game would be primarily based around the Legendaries, but it would be different from any other game that's ever been made. Each Legendary would have a shrine that was described as their home where they would appear to the Pokémon as chosen guardians in times of need. But the shrines are empty now, and the Legendaries gone.

The plotline would follow two characters that are trying to bring back the Legendaries, and you acquire your starter (choosing from any of the nine) and join one of them as they gather followers and form a Team. Many events throughout the game allow you to quickly and easily assemble a powerful team of Pokémon, but the in-game opponents' Pokémon are around your level or even higher. And while that means more EXP and that your team grows faster, the opponents are vastly stronger in the next area you would visit.

You end up teaming with one Legendary (depending on how you play) to lead you to an island, located randomly based on how you play, to awaken the remaining Legendaries, which are attacked by the opposing Team's followers, and so the Legendaries go on a rage destroying towns and houses, and you have to battle them. Based on how you do, the Legendary may accept you. If it does, you get Pokédex data and it fights alongside your Team against the other Team, who at the same time is after other Legendaries.

The game would take place in all three regions, but to prevent the game form being too big to fit all that data, only a few towns and key areas would be visitable, and the others not exist. And all possibilities for where you meet the Legends and where the islands are, are already programmed, so like if you do x at point y, the island will be here and the next Legendary will be...Zapdos, but if you do z at point w, it's something else.

All the Legendaries are on level 100, and some battles have you with 2 Legends taking on Team Admins with all Level 100 Pokémon. And then at the end there's some sort of final showdown that's different depending on how you play, which Legendaries each Team gets, where the key islands and shrines are and stuff. After you beat the opposing Team once and for all and win the game, you could capture any Legend that had ever allied with you, but them being on level 100 makes it insanely hard... Even after that there are various tournaments and special tasks you could accomplish to acquire special Legendary Symbols that would enable you to meet the other Legends, even the ones that had been a part of the other Team.

I think that would be soooo cool, and not to mention extremely challenging...*drools* Does anyone else think that would be cool? *is met by crickets chirping.*

So, share your ideas on what the most absolutely perfect Pokémon game would be like if you had your way.

This thread isn't to talk about what game you think is the best. Chibi wants a discussion about what YOU would do if you were in charge of making a Pokemon game. I have already gave my opinion a while ago, but it seems that thread has been deleted. Here are my thoughts:

    - First off, I would have the game keep the text, but also give the characters actual voices. With today's tech and data storage, it is crazy that they didn't add that into XD. Crazy, I tell ya!!

    - I want to keep the text, basically because it is a great reading tool for my youngest son. Sounds a little silly, but it is quite effective. Maybe a feature to turn on/off the text.

    - My next suggestion would be to make the storyline longer and less structured. Get away from the typical game flow (starter, gym, E4, longass credits, gotta catch em all), and add more side quests. I understand the game is setup to help younger kids stay on course, but that can stay intact while at the same time give them more options. Keep the progression as such that a player can be as quick or as slow as they want.

    - On a related note, change how you play the game. The player should be given the option to be a Poke trainer, Poke breeder, or even a Poke researcher. A Poke breeder could have their own Day Care, focusing on the breeding aspect, and having other AI/Real players take Pokes to train them.

    - While I enjoyed how RSE began, you were still stuck with a choice of your three typical Poke types. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Mix up the types and the number of choices you have. The mixed starter types in RSE was a good start, now just abandon the Fire/Water/Grass fixation and open it up a bit.

    - Make the area bigger. Give the player an option of starting in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Orre, Orange, or even a new area. Each region has its own storyline that makes it unique. If you start in one region, give the ability to go to another region (like GSC), but scale back the storyline for that region (like GSC). More playability, more fun.

    - Get rid of the National Pokedex limitation. If I want to trade in an Evee with its five evolutions to start the game that way, I should be able to do it. Just because I don't have the NP yet, shouldn't mean I cannot start out with Pokes from other regions.

    - Give the option of having a Poke walk/run with you instead of lugging them around in their Poke Cell....errr Ball. I have seen a few screenshots from DP that this might be a reality, but we are talking about our own game here. Plus, if your Poke is big enough (i.e. Growlithe, Fearow, etc.), have an option where you can ride on your Poke instead of walking/running/biking. Flying on a Poke, while still being limited to the boundaries of the route, would simply own.

    - With that in mind, instead of totally random Poke encounters in the grass, allow the player to see some of the Pokes roaming around. Sure, you could still get ambushed from time to time, but give more control to the user.

    - When you use Fly or Surf or Dive, use the actual Poke pixel, not just a generic one. If I am surfing on a Linoone, I want to see my character on the back of one. Same as Fly.

    - Speaking of Fly, allow the user to fly ANYWHERE on the map that they have visited before, not just to a PC or the entrance to the E4. Hell, I would be happy if the user could fly to the beginning of a route.

    - Have more random encounters with trainers too. Some can be stationary, but some should be roaming just like you are. Plus, as they are roaming, have their Pokes grow too, similar to the reporter in RSE. Also, have the levels of the Pokes be similar to the levels of your own. Oh yeah, have the trainers let their Pokes evolve too. Seeing a Level 50 pre-evolution is just wrong.

    - Even though Gym are typically geared towards a specific type, give Gym Leaders a greater selection of Pokes, allowing them to cover obvious weaknesses. Also, get rid of the AI only using items on a Poke when its HP has reached a pre-determined level. That is too predictable and too easy to get around. Give trainers/leaders traits just as Pokes do. Some trainers use items religiously, some switch out, some are balanced. That would greatly improve the strategy in-game. Currently, players play one way in-game and then when they battle someone else, they try to apply the same techniques and get plastered. While more advanced, this option will make players better.

    - Get rid of the E4. It has been played and played and been proven wanting. Not only can you destroy the W(eak)4 50 times, when you go back they act like you are still a challenger. Seriously, how many times do we have to watch Gary complain about losing the title to you right after he won it, even though you have destroyed him 50 times? Instead of the W4, do what the original cartoon had. Colosseum. Once you have all the badges, you go to the Colosseum in the region and battle the REAL way. You could even include the W4 as your last challenge to qualify for the Colosseum, although that seems like a stretch. Maybe if you beat the W4, you get a bye for the first few rounds. That would work.

    - Once you are deemed champion of a region, have the game make you defend your title in regular Colosseum battles. Plus, give the option to leave the region and work on becoming champ of another region. Also, once you are champ, have champs from other regions call you for challenges.

    - Similar to picking how you want to start the game, allow the player an option on how they want to continue the game. Give an option for the player to become a gym leader. Have the player pick their junior trainers and have regular battles with AI/real players. Also get the numbers of all your challengers so that you can see how they are progressing and let them challenge you again. As I suggested before, while you must have some certain Pokes that fit the type of gym, have the ability to use other Pokes too. Plus, in-between challenges, the player can take their Pokes out to get more experience or to level up new Pokes that you want on the team.

Well, that is a pretty short list of what I would LOVE to see in a new Pokemon game. This obviously couldn't fit too well in a GBA game, but in order for Nintendo to stay competitive, they are going to need to come up with some product that can somehow rival 360 or the upcoming PS3. That definitely would give the developers plenty of storage to make this game in one word - frickin awesome.

I would like to make a Pokemon game that is based more of Shadow Lugia like Pokemon XD but based in a new place and region with several legendary Shadow Pokemon but not snagging them but more like stopping them from destroying towns and citiesand others things within a mission.

Lol, looks like a lot of people just saw the title and replied without reading my post. :P

Those are all awesome ideas, shanecdavis. I once had a similar idea concerning ditching the E4, but I love your ideas with the variation on Gym strategy and what you would do after becoming the Champion. And I'm surprised they haven't done an actual Pokemon sprite for Fly/Surf yet. They went and made the icons for each one when the old games just had an odd generic shape, so they should have done it for Fly/Surf by now.

And as for Egyptian Sphinx, that would be pretty cool. The snagging in XD got a little old, but going on missions to stop them from wreaking havoc would be sweet.

I'd really just like an actual pokemon rpg for the gamecube, just like the GB games. You could plug in another memory card and trade that way.
I mean, XD is cool and all, but I want just a normal pokemong game for the 'cube.

PLEASE DONT SAY THAT. Sorry Chibi Pika:( Well the game will be addicting and challenging.

Ummm, Dark Venusaur, don't take my post personally. It wasn't directed at just you. Your post was the THIRD post that had nothing to do with the topic of the thread, so I added clarification. I know I am interested in what others think would make a better Pokemon game so feel free to add your opinion.

basically Pokemon Gold with more routes, caves, pokemon, gyms, and beter graphics. Gold was my all time favorite game.

    Also the duplicate trick :)

I really like the Idea that Mysterious Dungeon introduced: Playing AS a Pokemon, with absolutely NO humans to torment/capture you. Or, they could make a game where you were a Pokemon trying to avoid being caught yourself. You would defend your territory against other Pokemon, hunt for food and shelter each night, and try desperately to survive the harsh world.

That would be an awesome game.
