As far as I know, the cards have been released. They have scans over on serebii.net.

About the McDonalds pokemon cards in Japan - it's true! I bought a happy meal just to get one. >_< Although I don't think they'd be playable in a real deck - the card material is too plastic and shiny, and the back has the American logo and doesn't look like a normal card (I think? I haven't looked at the TCG for a few years...).
So I'm not sure whether the topic is referring to these cards or not...

No, the back of our cards don't look like that - but that's what the Japanese ones do.
I haven't bought any Japanese cards since the last Neo set was released.
The only sets I can think of that have never been released were the VS Cards from Johto and these Movie Halfdecks or should I say "ADV's"
I bet if I ever go to that store at a mall I used to go to called "Pok?Maniacs" - I'm sure I would be able to find these cards. But I don't know if it's open anymore - the last time I went to it was a few years back...
