You probably already reviewed Magmortar when I posted the pre-release pics, but it only makes sense to post both cards at once, which I will start doing from now on when a Lv. X is involved.

Thanks to Water Pokemon Master from www.pokebeach.com for the scans.

I must be honest and say I don't really like Magmortar Lv.X. The attack isn't really that great, and the new weakness is very poor in DP. Yes, you can use Magmortar's attacks, but an extra 30HP for a poor attack and weakness isn't worth it.

I'll review Magmortar Lv.48 since I never did it originally. 100HP is okay, but only given that more Water Pokémon do 60 damage than they do 70 damage and upwards. Smoke Bomb is only average, but Flame Drum is slightly better - though it does depend if you're willing to run a 3-stage line with no Rare Candy to help. You could have Magmortar out on turn two thanks to Baby Evolution, admittedly, but you'd need a Firestarter to get three Energy on.

    Magmortar Lv.48: 6.5/10
    Magmortar Lv.X: 5/10
