Forgive me, but I have to say it.
I've been at PC for a while. I remember back in the day, when there were only like, 3 emblems in circulation, and one of them was for being paired for a year. Committed. Back when, damn, it was actually impressive to have an emblem or two. But then, the staff started realizing that there really aren't that many emblems in circulation. So they started making a few more, no harm with that. Before, I used to be proud to have two emblems. At least I had those, and they were all I needed. But now it's like crap, my buddy over that has thirty-six emblems! And that's only the biggest I've seen, I bet there are many who have even more.
I might be a total retard and total bummer and blah blah blah but I think emblems are really bad. No one at this forum can deny that they have guessed or assumed someone's respectability by the number of posts that they had. 2,000? Not bad, I guess he knows what he's saying. 6,000? Damn, this guy is legit. 10,000+ godly. All I'm saying is, post count is the unofficial popularity/importance/respect/intimidation ranking system, whichever you like the most, of the forum (and of many forums, for that matter). It's way too late to stop that, but, and most of you can already guess where I'm going with this, I don't want that to happen with emblems. Emblems have probably become, involuntarily, just another way for us to rank each other amongst ourselves.
Emblems are real easy to get. Participate in this, you don't even win, you'll probably get a consolidation emblem or something like that. Good ol' Bug Catchin' Contest-style, you know. Just gonna become another ranking system. I would suggest against it. Sure, I'll never get any proof to back up what I'm saying, but proof enough is your secret reaction to post count ranking systems.
Say what you will, I'm not wrong. Let's just abolish the system.
