2nd Gen A Dragon Dilemma?

    I am making my way through Pokemon Silver and I am in Blackthorn City, ready to battle Clair.

    But the person blocking the gym door saying she/he doesn't know when Clair will return hasn't moved...

    And then there's an old man blocking the cave enterance which I've been told will only move for you once you've been given permission by Clair...

    But... if I can't get into the gym... I can't get into the cave.

    Does anyone know how I am supposed to get to Clair?

    Are you sure you have collected all the Gym Badges (excluding the Rising Badge) and defeated Team Rocket? Maybe you must have forgotten to go to the Radio Tower in Goldenrod and defeat Team Rocket there, or if you haven't, you most probably haven't went into the secret area in the Goldenrod Underground and found the Director. Oh, yes, and if you have already done that, you must use the key he gives you to open a gate on the floor of the Radio Tower to continue on and sweep' em out of the tower. That should get the guy blocking the gym away.

    If you have 7 badges and kicked Team Rocket's butt out from the Radio Tower, you'll have no problem going inside Blackthorn City's gym...
