Alright, I've got a few NU teams I've been working on lately. One thing I would like to mention before I lay down my sets, is that I generally dislike using standard sets and/or pokemon. Hence why I have been rolling NU lately. I like making somewhat gimmicky or less common sets that can work decently. Okay, so here goes. I know weather teams have essentially fallen by the wayside...which is exactly why I decided to make a couple and try and roll them deep. Ahem, without further adieu.
First off, my [VERY] WIP sun team. This one is quite unrefined, just messed around a little bit and made this up. I went on to my rain team pretty quick, so I believe this needs some solid refinement.

Aaaaaaand my rain team. I have been using/working on this one a decent bit more than the sun team, but its still in its fledgling stage. I don't win all that many rounds with this team either, but its a bit more synergistic than the sun team. Weather teams sure aren't what they used to be lmao.

Spoiler:
Lickilicky @ Leftovers
Oblivious
252 HP / 128 Def / 124 SpD / 4 Spe
Bold (+Def , -Atk)
- Solar Beam
- Fire Blast
- Toxic
- Sunny Day
went bulky split def on this lickilicky to serve as a sun thrower. chosen because it can learn fire blast and solarbeam. tbh i just randomly chose a bulky-ish poke that had access to solarbeam. plus its got a boosted fire blast
Lurantis @ Sitrus Berry
Leaf Guard
252 HP / 76 Def / 180 SpD
Impish (+Def, - SpA)
- Solar Blade
- Synthesis
- Poison Jab
- Growth
really wanted to make use of solar blade. pretty much made this guy a complete sun gimmick. went bulky so i could make use of synth and growth. seriously monsterous under sun with a growth or two up. should probably choose one def to fully align with, but i like to bulk up both defenses on pokes with equal def stats.
Comfey @ Leftovers
Triage
252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Careful (+SpD, - SpA)
- Leech Seed
- Synthesis
- Sunny Day
- Toxic
yeah i know i always hated going up against comfey so i figured a sun-boosted, synth holding comfey would be nasty. threw sunny d on it as its one of the more bulky mons on this team. idk much bout this fella, could use a differing pick if anybody has suggestions
Torkoal @ Chesto Berry
White Smoke
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Calm (+SpD, -Atk)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Rest
- Sunny Day
i had such high hopes for torkoal being the center of this team. then i realized drought is banned. torkoal is one of my favorite pokes so its gotta stay, but im up for changes. massive bulk. went chesto-rest cause i thought it fit fairly well. my defensive wall, just threw on a stab and coverage move. sunny d due to bulk and i had planned on it being the main sun mon. guessing i should go bold, but i hate having my bulky mon vulnerable on one side of def
Unfezant @ Rocky Helmet
Big Pecks
12 HP / 248 Atk / 248 Spe
Jolly (+Spe, - SpA)
- Morning Sun
- Pluck
- Quick Attack
- Feather Dance
this guy was simply chosen due to morning sun, and the physical ability. honestly wouldn't be upset about replacing him, but this team was created rather quickly. Pluck over AA due to the density of berry users. kinda wanted to go bulky-ish as to make use of morning sun. i wanted every member of the team to have something affected by sun, hence ol fezant face
Cherrim @ Choice Specs
Flower Gift
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest (+SpA, - Atk)
IVs: 0 Atk
- Weather Ball
- Solar Beam
- Dazzling Gleam
- Hidden Power [Electric]
this lil fella has also got to stay. cant really have a dank sun team without the poster child eh? went specs cause it needs the extra power. very very reliant upon sun. chose hp electric for coverage reasons, but could definitely be replaced. idk, with flower gift maybe i should run a more bulky version. need some assistance here
i think a heat rock may be pertinent to use on somebody. this team is fairly disheveled, hence why i posted this here. thanks for the c + C

Spoiler:
Ludicolo @ Damp Rock
Rain Dish
252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Modest (+SpA, - Atk)
- Toxic
- Hydro Pump
- Rain Dance
- Giga Drain
ludi is my lead almost 100% of the time. mainly due to the damp rock, but hes also pretty bulky specially defensively. went modest to surprise fools who think ludi is full support. he does a solid amount of damage with a rain booster hydro pump. toxic for the bulky non steels; or used as a parting shot. giga drain is there because i need a bit more health recovery, and i also dont know what else to put there in its place. works pretty great, but im considering going calm instead of modest. feedback??
Huntail @ White Herb
Swift Swim
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant (+Atk, - SpA)
- Aqua Tail
- Shell Smash
- Sucker Punch
- Super Fang
after a shell smash(in rain) huntail becomes a speedy wrecking ball. white herb so he can possibly survive a hit after shell smash. the last slot is up for grabs. ive got plenty of ice type attacks, so i just threw on super fang in case i run into bulky defensive mons who resist huntail. up for suggestions here
Beartic @ Iapapa Berry
Swift Swim
252 HP / 196 Atk / 60 Spe
Impish (+Def, - SpA)
- Rain Dance
- Aqua Jet
- Icicle Crash
- Power-Up Punch/Play Rough
60 speed to top 300 in rain. bulky ice type with rain dance support. still hits like a truck and has staying power with impish and 252 health. can work as a good revenge killer under rain. last slot is for coverage. have had both work great in differing situations.
Gorebyss @ Assault Vest
Swift Swim
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest (+SpA, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Psychic
- Ice Beam
- Signal Beam
in the rain she tops 400 speed and almost as much attack power. with assault vest she's fairly bulky, which almost makes me want to run 252 HP here. i built her as a swift swim sweeper, but the addition of assault vest means she can withstand an attack or two. was thinking maybe going specs, but having access to all the types of attacking moves seems to be more profitable. an amazing swift swimmer for ages,
Aggron @ Iapapa Berry
Rock Head
252 HP / 124 Atk / 132 Def
Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
- Rain Dance
- Head Smash
- Toxic
- Earthquake
just a really bulky defensive mon who's weaknesses are fairly covered. he can also lay down some damage if need be, and i threw toxic on for the defensively bulky mons. idk if this is the best utilization of aggron but this is something i came up with. works great for a physical switch in, unless they have a fighting attack.. needed another bulky mon for rain dance support, up to suggestions of sets or replacements.
Drampa @ Leftovers
Sap Sipper
252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest (+SpA, -Atk)
- Dragon Pulse
- Hurricane
- Thunder
- Roost
chose ol boy due to its ability to learn hurricane and thunder. another bulky special attacker, with access to 100% accuracy 110 base power moves in the rain. roost to provide staying power beyond lefties. can be a monster if set up with rain.
I obviously realize I have two pure water types who get dominated by electric and grass, and ludi who gets hit neutrally by electric and grass as well, but that's just part of the fun! (if you have any coverage ideas who fit synergistically with the team im all ears though.
