Hi all,
I have a few questions in regards to FireRed music hacking:
1. When is the best time to start adding in custom music into a FireRed ROM? Should it be the first thing done over mapping, scripting etc. or can it be done near the end of development?
2. I'm having trouble with adding in a particular soundtrack. It's from the NES game Yuyuki, it sounds like this:
I downloaded the soundtrack off of a music repository as an MP3, the only option it has was an MP3 download. As is what happens when you go to an online MP3 to MIDI converter, any soundtrack that is converted and opened in a program like Anvil Studio will only have one track. I understand how to add tracks to the soundtrack and give them an instrument each, but the problem is trying to dedicate certain parts of the melody to specific tracks. e.g. making the background beat a set of drums or something. For indication, I have no musical talent whatsoever, all I've learnt to do is copy the entire melody into different tracks which have a different instrument, but it doesn't sound good like that.
3. In regards to the above question, is there a place I can find this soundtrack I sent above as a MIDI with a set amount of tracks? I've checked out VGMusic, but it doesn't have it, so I'm unsure where else I could look for it. The same can be said for the Champion theme in Pokemon Black and White I can't find it anywhere. Would someone be able to point me in the right direction to find a MIDI of said soundtracks, in particular when opened in Anvil studio having more than one track?
Thankyou very much in advance.
