Hi there!
First of all, I want to say that it is good to see a forum for people who enjoy the Pokémon franchise and want to share it with others.
I know this is a superlong post, feel free to skip parts as you find relevance or lack thereof. :p
Quicky about me, although I have played several of the GB games earlier, including the TCG, I just recently got properly interested in the real TCG. I'm no master player at all... don't own any cards to be honest. I just helped my littlesis get started buying enough cards to build a two/three decks that we could play against each other (although I see her very rarely after I moved). But... that did spark an interest in me.
Thus, some time after, I've landed here on these very forums. As with most of my other interests, I always end up doing some kind of "personal development projects" for them.
Right now, I'm trying to learn how to create fake cards. I've seen two or three tutorials out there, although my perfectionism seems to constantly find me bickering with myself about one or two details. This is why I ask for your help.
1. From the two tutorials read that I can remember (the one on these forums and the one on Zeo), I haven't seen much (some, but too little for what I want to do) mention about differences from the standard "formula" when you are using evolution cards. So, based on the tutorial on the Zeo page and wanting to use the Neo Genesis style, if I use an evolution card (e.g. stage 1 - Graveller), where would the Pokémon name be placed? If I use the tutorials placement, it ends up in the middle of the evolution icon.
2. Again, based on the Neo Genesis tutorial of Zeo, it mentions where to place attack energy usage for attacks that use more than one energy, but not the placement for a single energy usage icon. If I want to use an attack that costs one energy, I have no idea about where to place it. Someone who knows the placement in pixels?
3. As with question 1 this regards evolution. Where would I put "Evolves from ..." on those cards? Also, are there any other stuff that should be written on evolution cards?
4. What would be the exact placement of the Ultra Rare card symbol?
5. Do you know of any blanks of the good old card types from the Base/Jungle/Fossil sets?
6. I seem to recall a tutorial regarding holofoil/refractor cards, but I can't seem to find it again. Anyone?
7. This one is about printing fake cards (for personal use only, no intention of scam/fraud/money-making or anything); What do you guys print your cards on? Any tips on how to make a printed card look as realistic as possible (without using sleeves to hide the fakeness of thin, see-through, bleach paper)?
8. No guide as far as I recall tells about where "set" logos and First Edition/misc. logos are placed. WHere shoud I put these in Neo and/or the card generation that the forum tutorial uses.
As a start, I was thinking of doing some "existing" cards to learn how to do this properly. I would use it as training and also because I find those cards interesting: The Gameboy TCG card set. I know that it would be hard to actually play a game with them (considering their "random" this and "random" that rules), but I like challenges and solving "limitations", so I will try to find a proper rule for randomizing. Anyways, a few questions:
1. Do you have any good suggestions for "random" rules?
2. I really suck at drawing, but I'm really picky about making stuff as near as their "real" counterparts. Anyone who wants to help me out on drawing (not from scratch, but improving bad resolution pictures)? I know that it is a bit early for people to put trust and effort into my projects without anything to refer to, but it's doesn't hurt asking, does it? ;)
Want to thank you for your patience to read any of the parts of this post. I'm open for comments and if you know any secret links to good resources, please feel free to drop them in here too. I have gathered some already, but more doesn't hurt.
With Kind Regards
Kresjah
P.S. Will try to refrain from such long posts later on ;)
