Harry Potter, a young boy with messy, jet-black hair, sat up. Harry was far from a normal boy. Oh, sure, he may look it... If you didn't include the lightning-shaped scar on his forehead. That, and the fact, that he is a Wizard, attenting Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Harry was nervous about today, for many things were going to be revealed that day, and Harry just didn't know how to do it. He had never done anything of the sort before, after all.

He bounded down the wooden steps that lead to the common room, and there was Hermione Granger, her nose buried in a book, as usual. "Hermione, havn't you read that book already?" Harry said, a small shake in his voice. "Yes, once or twice. Harry, you're shaking. What's wrong with you?" Hermione said, as he really was shivering from head to toe. "N-No, nothing's wrong... I'll see you later." he said, as he ran out of the common room. "Wow, that was stupid..." he said to himself.

Harry entered the Great Hall, but decided against eating, because he had a giant pit in his stomach. Instead, he ran out to the Greenhouses, where Professor Sprout tought classes. He walked inside, and Professor Sprout welcomed him. "Hello, Harry. I have what you asked me to get you." She held out a long, thin box to Harry, and he took it. "Thanks, Professor." he said, and walked out of the Greenhouse, a grin on his face.\

Harry walked back to the Common Room, and just as he expected, she was still reading the book. "Back so soon from breakfast, Harry?" she inquired him. "Not really that hungry..." he said. He sat down in one of the comfy chairs near the fire, and took out a book of his own, and pretended to read, but he was actually looking at Hermione, examining every inch of her that he could see.

In about 30 minutes, the entire Common Room was filled with Gryffindor students. He cought Parvati Patil by the arm, and asked her if he could have a word with her. He gave her a small envelope, and asked her to put it on Hermione's four-poster. "Is there a reason, Harry?" she asked, grinning. "Oh, it's nothing... Just don't read it, okay?" he asked her, blushing. "Okay, okay." she said. He was relieved, because he knew he could trust Parvati. The note enclosed asked Hermione to meet her "Secret Admirer" at the top of the tallest tower at midnight.

At 11:30, Harry crept out of his dorm room, his invisibility cloak in hand. He covered himself in it, and snuck up to the tallest tower in Hogwarts, the Astronomy Tower. He took off the cloak, and waited. Harry opened the small box, and inside lay a single rose. He snapped the box shut, though, as he heard footsteps approaching. He covered himself in the Invisibility Cloak, and waited to see if it was Hermione, and it was. When she came in, he took off the cloak, and she stared at him for a minute, and said, "Uh, Harry, what are you doing here?" Harry grinned widely. "Hermione, that letter was from me." he said. Hermione blushed a dark scarlet, and he took out the box. "Hermione, I've really liked you ever since our first year at Hogwarts, I just didn't want to admit it... I got you something." he said. He opened the box, and took out the rose. "It's been grown specially. No thorns." he said to her. He handed it to her, and a small tear formed on the edge of her eye. "Harry, does this mean-" she said. "Hermione... I love you." he said. There was an awkward pause, which was broken when the two collided, threw their arms around eachother, and their lips met in a blaze of passion. She released her grip, just enough for her to breathe and say, "I love you too..." Together, they threw on the invisibility cloak, and went back to the Gryffindor Common Room, as slowly as possible, because they knew they were in eachother's prescence, and it was a moment to cherish.

The next day, Harry and Hermione told Ron the supposedly good news. But, to Ron, it was dreadful. "Bloody Hell, Harry! You get all the luck!" he said, blushing. Harry and Hermione laughed, and soon enough, so did Ron. That night, Harry and Hermione were the last ones in the common room. "Harry, I have some news. I contacted my parents this afternoon by owl, and they want you to come and stay the summer... Do you think-"
she was cut off by Harry putting his finger to her lips. "DO I? Of course, it's the best thing that would ever have happened to me, definitely better than spending the whole summer with the Dursleys." There was a short pause, and they both laughed. When they had settled down, they both went back to their Dorms, and slept.

Hermione had pleasing thoughts that night. She thought of Harry spending the summer with her, and she also thought of the rose, that single rose that he had given her.
