Anyone know if it's possible? By 3D graphics, I mean NDS like graphics. Kind of like what's shown below:

As opposed to what's shown below:

THIS PICTURE IS FROM DIONEN'S HACK, POKEMON LIFE VERSION.

While it's very close to NDS games in graphics, it clearly lacks the 3D aspect. Any ideas if implementing this is possible?

If you look closely, 3D can only be created if you have all 3 the dimensions, Problem is that everything is straight up while the picture above, it is a lil bit oblique. i think that makes the difference and no clue how to fix it, u will have to manually add the tiles

Building on what LH said, if you really want something that's 3-dimensional to the likes of 4/5th gen, you merely have to artistically think 3-dimensionally. This will probably always be my favorite example:

    (Spherical Ice's Pokemon Gaia)

The slab's 2D, but the orientation of it and its surroundings give it something of a 3D appearance. And I'm not saying it's easy to do or even that things other than this, like trees and grass won't prove more challenging, but the DS Pokemon games are very 3D-lite and unexceptional in that area, and I'd think it not impossible to rival or surpass them in making something that simply looks 3D.

Some RPG Maker games try to emulate that 3d look using "Mode 7"
Good luck trying to do it with gba, though
