3rd Gen Altering Cave Discussion

In FireRed, Altering Cave is located on Island Six of the Sevii Islands. I read that it shifts catchable pokemon depending on the Mystery Events. Only Zubat can be found there from the beginning, but I read that Mystery Gift can unlock Shuckle, Aipom, Mareep, Stantler, Teddiursa, Houndour, Pineco, and Smeargle so they can be found in the cave as well. What I'm trying to figure out is, what do they mean by "Mystery Events"? And where do you get Mystery Gift and how would it work with a GBA if it doesn't have the little connection square on it like on the GameBoy Color?

its for a nintendo event but dont worry about those Pokemon, you can get those in Emerald's safari zone after you gotten the National Pokedex

go to any mart/s and fill out the questionaire, [type in link together with all] m.event will be unlocked . you need a wireless
adapter to access it and the rest is the same(i think).
