yes indeed. You can hear what voice of the wild Pokemon in the area that you're in. It's one of the new little features to make things more realistic yet have no effect on the gameplay.

the game should play them more often then, i thought it was a bug or hearing things haha

Man, thats a relief. I thought I was going crazy when I kept hearing chinchou sounds on cycling road while I was trying to hatch a chinchou egg...man...its pretty sad that I never put two and two together...hey kids, don't do drugs!

You need to be out of battle for a while before the voices sound. Go into one route and stand around for about a minute or so, the sounds should start coming.
