The only thing I still hold on to as far is pokemon goes is the possibility. That's why I do fanfiction.
Imagine: Pokemon could have been YuYu Hakusho, a truly 3-dimensional anime, a Lord of the Rings where life is bittersweet. What a concept... I want a show that focuses on the things great fanfiction does: what the fanbases are intrigued to see. I want to see Negrek's characters live on a screen, because her writing is how anime is supposed to be. It could have been a hybrid series, complete with the now fan-made morphs.
Pokemon, in this relapse I'm having in obsession, isn't the show or the games, but what still could be because of people who feel like I do.
Everyone failed as soon as the decided pokemon would be marketed for young kids. Because people are greedy. And young kids are money.
As for the second rant, Nintendo used to be my favorite system... but lately, my GCN is rotting and PS2 is my haven. I miss Dreamcast. We need more SA2 games: Amazing, 3-dimensional storylines with characters that you can really feel. But recently, nintendo's be just remaking things. It's become unsure of itself.
Think of how amazing the DS. It is, virtually, a handheld N64. If you told someone in 1996 that one day N64 would be able to fit in your pocket, they would have put you in an asylum. Nintendo has this amazing advancement, but aren't doing anything with it.
They have stopped marketing games for everyone. Think of the new DS slogan: Touching is good. Who are we trying to sell to? Perverted 30-year-olds who live with their moms.
As long as Nintendo is stuck in a dream-world where everyone is happy because they are making money, there will be no more truly great, fun games.
The older systems are the best. They have the most varied games. Bomberman 64: The Second Attack is better than any game I've ever played on GCN. Super Monkeyball was one of the earliest games, but apparently people don't sit down to have fun on GCN anymore, so no more challenge games like that. The new Mario Party games are crap. And with Sega in the financial trouble it is, we shouldn't be expected any ,more amazing games from them any time soon.
Maybe the fall of Sega promted Nintendo. All I know is that my friends still love Dreamcast the best. And is it the best-- ahead of its time.
It seems to me like PS and Nintendo switched. PS used to have the violent games I didn't really enjoy, but now they're putting out things for everyone. Now Nintendo has become corrupt by our materialistic, sex-driven world.
I'm not sure I understand how their minds work over there, but normal people here in my town want to play games that are fun, that their baby brother can play with them.
All of the Britney Spears of the world can go to hell, because the world is sick of them. And she knows it. So why can't Nintendo see it? People still watch; they always will. But that doesn't make her popular.
