Introducing myself.... Matt Wallace, aka Pidgeot500, "Pidgeot"! Here's my story.

Back in '98, several friends of mine had become interested in Pokemon, so I picked it up and was (of course) instantly fascinated.

Quickly I exceeded the skill (and interest) level of the majority of my peers, and so went online to find others who also viewed training as an art, a skill to be honed and refined.

....I found Tyais's Pokegym, and joined it, and all was well, for a time. We worked with damage formula and discussed stats, developed moveset, shared advice on training and weaponizing Pokemon. On the fun side, we posted and read PBS battle logs, had a skilled fanfic writership and readership, held intense discussions on taking down the Nintendo reps, and made fun of the Pokemasters forum.

Most of all, I chatted in Blizzard's PBS HTML chat and battled friends on a daily basis.

Then, I went on vacation, and on my return discovered that the Pokegym was unhosted and the community in exile*.
Pretty soon after that, Blizzard stopped hosting as well.

....Month turned into years, and I phased in and out of the online Pokemon scene. I was still a member of the Azure Heights forum, but it wasn't the same. Several years later, after finding many of my links dead, I spoke to a stranger online whose words evidenced, to me at least, that the online Pokemon community was, for the most part, dead.

Cut to: today. I idlely Google "pokemon forum" and, lo and behold, there's a link to the PokeCommunity. After thoroughly examining the content/structure of the forums, it's clear to me that this board is.... excellent! Better than I'd ever expected to find.

Put simply, I'd be honored to take part in the pages of these forums. My knowledge of anything past G/S is nearly non-existent, but I'm always willing to learn. And, there may even be some things that I can teach. :classic:

I'd like to start off by writing some fanfic, then maybe see if I can put my some of my skills to use, most notably programming.

    * Apparently they were hosted on WotC for a while and have now settled at pokegym.net, where the discussion is centered around the Pokemon TCG.
