I've come to realize, that Green Day hasn't been mainstream at all; It's the fans that have been getting them on the radio so much.

I was literally shaking when Green Day won. I didn't expect them to win, considering Mariah was getting all the attention to my great dismay.


I would like to give a huge congradulations to U2 for winning so many Grammy's, and for ALBUM OF THE YEAR! They truly deserved it. You guys rock.

For the record, Green Day is overplayed, especially nowadays. Their new album doesn't even derserve recognition because they're becoming like all the other artists and just doing what people want them to do: not what they want.

On the subject of mainstream music: Kelly Clarkson and Kanye West should be shot. Mmkay.

Also, U2 is not rock, they are pop and System of a Down did not derserve best Hard Rock, as well as the fact that Slipknot sucks beyond all fathomable reason and should die: Shadows Fall derserved that far more.

Some people happen to like those artists. And you know what, if you were them and could make millions of dollars by being "mainstream" you would do exactly as they do.

Well, yes, I agree that nowadays Green Day is overplayed, but their recent album was still good, although I saw nothing special in "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and, in fact, didn't even like the song much. Mainstream artists are always going to get more exposure in the Grammys.

I'm amused. The television guide here lists the Grammys for tomorrow night as a "live" broadcast.

As I am from the UK we only get the results in the morning as we wake up. I am glad that U2 won awards but as I scan throgh the winners section of the Grammy's site is that I don't know who some of the are. I think that I am being stupid here but I can be like that sometimes. ^_^

Well, obviously the Grammys are going to be focused more on those artists well-known in America, and having been watching the UK and US charts in addition to the Aussie charts for the last few years, I can safely say that the popular artists in those two countries are very different.

Linkin Park and Jay-Z won for best Collaboration. That pretty much made me happy, at least I know my fave band won one award at least.

I've gotta say, I watched some of it and I frankly got bored of it. I detest award shows, but meh. SOAD did deserve their award(s?), in my opinion...Mesmerize and Hypnotize are great albums...love them both. <3 Glad SliPKnoT won for best metal performance. Hopefully next year, Shadows Fall will be more known...I agree with you there, The War Within was a masterpiece from start to finish. I'm still not tired of it. I'll always remember the one comment about Shadows Fall...'death metal on melody pills'. Heh. But yeah. I'm not gonna whine about 'boohoo maria careey sux0rz and shuld die' It's the fan's vote, and I'm not qualified to say it's a right or wrong choice. And one more thing...about Green Day getting overplayed? Hello? Doesn't everything get overplayed nowadays? 10 Years - Wasteland. I heard that 4 times in one hour sitting in a grocery store parking lot a few weeks ago. Great song, but I was like 'o_O;'. Which is why I don't listen to the radio often. Yes, yes it is a perfect reason for someone to be drug into the street and shot. Real musicians don't make music for others, they do it for themselves. It sounds selfish, but it's really not. And no, I wouldn't do exactly what they do, because I have a band and we refuse people who come up to us and try to get us mainstream.
