Lets name as many in-universe/real life excuse for why certain things happen in the anime.

    1. Why does Ash have Pikachu as his starter Pokemon?

    In-Universe:
    • Ash woke up late and all the starter Pokemon were taken.

    Real-Life:
    • Pikachu is the mascot of the series.

    2. Why does Ash travel with Misty and Brock, while other trainers travel alone?

    In-Universe:
    • Misty will follow Ash until he pays for bike.
    • Brock was won over by Ash's kindness.
    • "Traveling with friends is way more fun"

    Real-Life:
    • One trainer traveling alone means minimal interaction/dialog (according to some).
    • Misty is the female demographic appeal.
    • One boy and one girl alone means, blatant ship-teasing.

    3. Why Ash never wins a league?

    In-U:
There are better trainers with more powerful Pokemon

    IRL:
Winning makes it harder for writers to continue the series.

Anways, is this a game or just random facts put together?

This is using evidence from what actually happends anime and guessing as to why the writers made these outcomes happen.

But you have a general idea of this.

    3. Why did Ash lose the Indigo Conference?

    In-Universe:

    • His Charizard wouldn't obey him and cost Ash his battle with Richie

    Real-Life:

    • This was Ash's first league battle and he only began his journey a few months prior. Winning the whole thing wouldn't be very believable.

    4. Why do Ash & Co. travel to the Orange Islands?

    In-Universe:

    • To retrieve the GS Ball (an item that can't be sent via PC) from Prof. Ivy and compete in the Orange Islands League.

    Real-Life:

    • To stall for the development/release of Gold & Silver.
    • So Ash could win the Orange Islands League as a consolation prize (after losing the Indigo Conference).

I have one, before this thread ends up you know what:

    5. Why did Misty leave?

In-Universe: Because her sisters were going away from the Cerulean Gym, and they needed her to run the Gym while they were gone.

Real Life: Because the show's producers wanted to freshen up the cast a bit with a new female character, for 'eye candy' purposes.

    6. How did Pikachu manage to OHKO a rhydon?

Real life: They wanted Pikachu to be seen as an unbeatable force when fighting with Ash

Anime: None, Ash beat Surge's Raichu by basically making Pikachu a temporary ground type, while rhydon is always one, holy cow was this scene bull. He hit the horn, which I guess was made of metal or something.

Funny, that never stopped Ash from winning the Orange League or the Battle Frontier, the latter of which was reputed to be more powerful than even the Elite 4.

I wish I could think of something in this topic to contribute, but unfortunately I can't. I'm sorry.

    5. Why did Ash lose the Sinnoh League?

    In-Universe:
    • His entire team were snuffed by a trainer who used two overpowered legendaries.
    • To be more specific, four of his pokemon were snuffed by Darkrai's (the very first Pokemon sent out) Dark Void. Even though Sceptile managed snuff out Darkrai, it was shortly snuffed by Latios. Pikachu managed to snuff out Latios (and itself in the process) leaving Tobias with four reserves, to Ash's NONE.

    Real Life:
    • And so much Arc Fatigue, from the usual fillers, Ash's rivalry with Paul, Dawn's contest battles, May's brief return, Ash's gym battles, Team Galactic, the Pokemon Summer Camp, the Twinleaf Festival, the HGSS tie-ins, to the Lily f the Valley Conference itself, there were only three episodes left, with the release of Black & White around the corner. In short, the league was Christmas Rushed (or in this case, Gen V-rushed)!

    He wouldn't win anyways...
I would change it to "Why was Tobias/Takuto introduced".

There is no in-universe reason for a character's introduction and why he crossed paths with the main character. As to why he even bothered to compete in a tournament to battle people he manages to severely out-class is anyone's in-universal guess.

I meant it like this "Why was such ultra OP character introduced."
I kinda thought Takuto was embodiment of OPness in Pokemon... guess he wasn't...
