Ewww, what did they do to Lyra D: Her artwork looked sick fantastic but the Anime gave a an elongated (used that word twice now xD) face. She looks like this vaguely familiar character which I can't recall. Her personality is also way too childish. They took the mysteriousness out of Riley. Maylene looked like a total wimp. That's all I can recall now as I don't really watch the Anime, just a few bits here and there.

I do like how they portrayed Barry, voice and all. Oh and little Roark :3

So what's your take on how the Anime portrayed the Characters from the game. Which ones do you like? Which ones do you think they flopped with?

You're right about the fact that Lyra's original art work did look like trash but I think the animé greatly improved her design. It made me able to look at her without vomiting all over myself. I never played HeartGold or SoulSilver though so I can't compare the two personalities but I find her animé personality enjoyable.

I personally find all of the animé counterparts more enjoyable than their game counterparts but that's only because the game characters don't really get to say much anyway.

Oops, I meant sick as in good. I think the Anime ruined her xD I'll fix the post.

Ooh, I like this thread, I don't think I've seen anything discussing this before.

I thought that the Sugimori artwork of Lyra looked quite ugly and the anime improved her. I don't like the dead/vacant eyed look that was given to her and Gold in HGSS. I thought Lyra was a little more mature than Ash and Dawn in the anime, since she's actually aware of the opposite sex, hehe. There are some I prefer in the anime, and some that I prefer the orginal game artwork. Pachirisu's original art doesn't seem to capture the cuteness it has in the anime. Ooba (can't remember his English name, the fire Elite Four guy in Sinnoh) doesn't look as ugly in the anime as I imagined he would be from his original artwork. However, I think Palmer and Fantina look much worse in the anime. I can't tell what it is about Palmer, but they seemed to make Fantina look even more manly than she did before.

I, too, really like how Barry looks in the anime, and best of all he managed to get a good voice in both the dub and Japanese and actually managed to keep his fun game personality :3 The anime can do no wrong with him, it seems. :3 He could've just ended up with the generic Pokemon anime Ash/Dawn style personality, and I'm glad he didn't end up that way (same with Lyra).

Oops, I mainly wrote about the artwork...I'll add in a little about personality, too ~

Jorah, the artwork is basically what we have of the characters/what I based this thread on anyway, so you're good xD I also didn't like Fantina very much. And speaking of Pokemon themselves, the Anime is what made we really dislike Piplup, thought its personality captures that of normal Penguins, I think.

Is it me or do I think Volkner looks extremely weird ? :O prolly cause I think his face is just way too wide at some points.

And Lyra did look pretty bad in that Sugimori art, just glad the anime amped her up! XD

For some reason Volkner had greenish looking hair in the anime o.O

I've missed quite a lot of episodes, but from the few episodes seen over the past week, I don't like how they're portraying alot of the characters since DP started. Case in point: Byron. For one thing, why did they have to make him so damn obsessed with fossils! They turned him into an idiot.
But complaining is pointless, so I'll mention the characters I do like. Gardenia and her...strangeness (lol) was very amusing, and I like how they started Maylene out as underconfident and worked her up from there.
Only saw one full episode with Crasher Wake, so can't really remember what they did with him. Likewise, I only saw oone episode with Riley so I can't judge him, but he seemed good. Fantina was fine, but I wish they had toned down certain aspects of her personality. And Barry...compared to his ingame personality, they wrote the script for him well, with the exception of his slightly fanboy-ish thing for Paul.

Man I hated Fantina in the dub. Her fakey accent got me very annoyed, very quickly. Everybody complains about Candice, but I think shes alright. I still don't know what 'keai' is though. :l
As for Team Galactic... I like how they have an air of class, and the smooth way they get things done... I just think those episodes are cool. In the game on the other hand, most of the Grunts are bumblers and don't have the same feel as the ones on the anime do. I think they really captured Saturn's elegance in the anime... and Mars and Jupiter sound pretty good. I don't like how Cyrus is portrayed though. He seems more mysterious and calm in the games and I don't like his voice a lot either... I think they kinda ruined Looker in the anime. In Platinum I like his broken English which isn't kept in the anime... and his eyes are way bigger in the anime which i think makes him look weird.
Barry has recently become one of my fave characters, hes just as awesome in the anime as in the games.
