what???
i wanted to make a thread with the same question right now lol...
because i dont know if they're set after getting the national dex or after you get ruby to celio or when???

but its sure not from the start of the game!1
or how do you know? have you tried it?

i want to do the thing i did with the lati in sapphire:
1.go to tv at home (after E4 yeah)
2.save
3.A
4.go out and search for it
5.catch w/ MB
6. look stats and nature
7.if its crap SR and repeat

atm in my leaf green i'm standing in oaks lab, and when a talk to him i get the N.dex o_o

PS: please dont post answers if you did not try or prove it!1
answers like "its after the nat.dex" will not help so dont post them
 
IV and nature is calculated when you encounter every single pokemon.
IV is calculated randomly (expect you use GS, PAR, CB, etc.)
narture, shiny, gender are calculated randomly, but it linked somehow with Trainer ID and Secret Trainer ID.

and....I TRIED IT MYSELF (what did i try? look at my question above)

i was bored and tried it out by trading an entei to my LG from FR and the results were like this:
-beaten E4+nat.dex: no entei in kanto
-ruby @ celio: still no freakin entei
-standing in front of pokecenter on island1 with sapphire in bag: no entei
-go into pokecenter and gave sapphire to celio: entei next to vermillion city

so:
THE LEGENDARY CAT IS CALCULATED AT THE MOMENT YOU GIVE CELIO THE SAPPHIRE

and now i'm soft reseting for a good nature and IVs =)

Umm, no its not.


It's as soon as you get the National Dex.

And it's IV and Nature are set at the beginning of your game, just like Lati@s were in R/S.

All roaming legendaries have there's set at the beginning of the game.
 
MiTjA: Your logic in interpreting the results of your experiment are flawed. The setting of Entei's stats are not necessarily at the same time that it is made available for capture, unless you can prove otherwise. I'm not saying that your conclusion is wrong, but it does not follow from your experiment, and therefore I am leaning towards those that say beginning of the game.

And a little nitpick for xXscytherXx, "there's" should be "their's."

i'm softr reseting with saved game standing next to celio!1
everytime i search for a new entei it has a different nature and different stats o_O
 
i wanted to post this like 5days ago already but forgot to XD

ok i was soft reseting for entei
the nature was absolutely random, cos i had more then the half of all natures atlast once
as for health points IV, its was also random...i had 118 115 113 107 etc

but the strange thing was with the other stats, the stats that can be influenced by natures
example: the sp.def was always (excluding sp.def altering natures) 95, same for all the other stats

conclusion:
-nature=random, determined when giving celio the sapphire
-hp IV=random, determined when giving celio the sapphire
-all other stats=always the same, calculated by ID or those other hidden numbers or what they are i guess... =o
