I was walking with my friend the other day and he mentioned the fact that you cannot get a male Gardevoir in DPPt or HGSS, but you could in RSE. At the time I didn't know this.
This gave me a great idea. You know that place in DPPt where you could catch Pokemon from your slotted R/S/E game? Why not get a male Gardevoir there, and capture it in DPPt? :P

That then got me thinking, if I can get myself a legitimate male Gardevoir on DPPt and trade it to HGSS, what else can I do? :P

I'm gonna call this creating a cross-generation loophole. This thread is for people to post loopholes they've found across the RSE > DPPt > HGSS.

Post your cross-generational loopholes people. :)

Not really a loophole per se, but I remember when Colosseum first came out. I traded a whole bunch of Johto Pokemon into my Sapphire game before the National Pokedex was even available. (Emerald or FRLG hadn't been released yet.) It was pretty funny having pokemon that I thought weren't supposed to 'exist' in Hoenn.

Similarly, having two of each of the legendary birds in Diamond (thanks to XD of course!)

Just a little FYI, your friend is wrong. As long as Gardevoir has existed, you can get both female and male.

As for the topic... well, by trading between generations you can get Pokemon that know moves they otherwise wouldn't learn. The Tri Attack Togepi from Gale of Darkness sticks out in my mind.

You can use the Pomeg glitch in Emerald version to have Pokémon learn moves that they normally learn at a much higher level at level 5, such as Porygon learning Tri-Attack while still being Little-Cup legal, and from there transfer it to generation IV. On the Flip-side, however, Porygons learning Tri-Attack at level 5 will always have Trace, as Trace is Porygon's only Generation III ability.
