Disclaimer: This isn't very good :P :L And sorry for them coming all at once, been writing them for a few weeks.
Also I have changed what Pokemon is like a bit, I've made the starting age 14 instead of 10, I've also made it where every Pokemon is available everywhere so then any of all 15 starter Pokemon can be chosen at the beginning of a trainers journey.

    Chapter 1

I couldn't believe it, I'd been betrayed. By my own brother. Four years ago when I was ten, I was just as eager as he was to go on the journey with him but mum wouldn't let me – she said I was too young or something and to wait until I was fourteen like my brother, Terry. So a year passed and I had been depressed all year, but joy lit up my face when I saw Terry open the gate and walked towards the house. "Mum, MUM!!!! Terry's back!" I had shouted as I raced from the window to the door, swinging it open and jumping on my brother as quick as I could.

The rest of the day was spent having a family meal with mum and Terry as he talked about his journey in Kanto. The Pokemon he'd caught and the battles he'd had. He showed us each of the Pokemon as there was only eight in total. A Charmeleon which had evolved from his starter Pokemon – Charmander. He also had a Pidgeot and a Beedrill that he had caught in quick succession but then took his time as he then captured a Geodude which soon evolved into a Graveler and was his second choice Pokemon if Charmeleon wasn't available. He also had a Lapras and a Staryu, a Electrrode and a Machop.

The next morning as he set to leave for Professor Oak to talk to him before then going on to conquer the Kanto Battle Frontier, he took me a side and gave me a pokeball in order to start training before I leave for my Pokemon journey. That it could be my starter Pokemon. That was the last time I had had a proper conversation with Terry and although it had made me very happy with the outcome, I'm horrified it was so long ago. I'd seen him once since, when he'd grunted a few words to me as he visited us about a year and a half ago after capturing a few more Pokemon on his journey through the Battle Frontier and the Orange Islands, he hadn't even stayed the night. He just dropped off his Pokemon at Professor Oaks office before setting off for Hoenn or Johto – he hadn't told us where.

Now as I watched him I was full of anger, I stood there with Machop, the two of us watching spitefully as he and his friend Dean's silhouettes stabbed into the setting sun and I knew that in time, I'd show him I wouldn't have slown him down. I'll battle him and I will beat him.

"I can't believe he did that," I said to Machop as we both eventually turned and walked back towards the house. "I guess tomorrow we'll start our Pokemon journey on our own.

"Machop, Machop," Machop said in agreement, punching his fist into his palm in order to show enthusiasm. As I smiled at Machop I thought, maybe this was Terry's biggest mistake, giving me his Machop and giving me time to bond with him whilst making Machop stronger.

We'd had a few battles against other trainers. Last year when Chad from down the street had chosen his starter Pokemon and was about to set off to the Orange Islands, he'd asked me for a battle to give him some practice before he met any real trainers. His Bulbasaur was no match, despite his Leech Seed making Machop struggle near the end. After a few Low Kicks and Leers, instead of resisting the Leech Seed, I used Focus Energy and then a Karate Chop straight after, knocking out Bulbasaur. I guess I was a few levels above his Bulbasaur but he still managed to make me struggle. Then there was Lily who chose her starter Pokemon a few weeks ago and asked to battle me. She chose a Charmader but neither of us could beat each other and after my Karate Chop hit his powerful Scratch and both got knocked out. So they're the only two battles I've had and I've already gained a lot of experience just from them, I looked at Machop again, knowing that one daywe were going to beat Terry.

    Chapter 2

I woke up, the sun in my eyes and a Pidgey pecking at the window, like a natural alarm clock alerting me it was time to get up for my big day. I was beginning my journey today, with or without Terry. I looked at the open pokeball that was sat on my bedside table, Machop must already be up, training outside down at the creek like he does when he is pumped up. It's full of rocks and boulders providing him with lots of ways to train. I stretched as I sat up in bed, looked out the window and sure enough saw a boulder go flying up in the air about a hundred metres away. I walked over to the bathroom across the hall, had a shower and went downstairs after changing into the clothes my mum had bought especially for today.

I jumped down the stairs two at a time and ran into the kitchen where mum had left my breakfast on the bar with a note saying she'll be back before I leave. I shouted for Machop to come home and after the loud sound of his footsteps smashing into the ground came nearer and nearer I saw him jump over a bush and run the last few metres towards me. "Machop, return!" I said before putting the pokeball back into my pocket and heading off towards Professor Oak's. When I got there I could see Pokemon everywhere, a Girafarig drinking at the ponds edge. A Mankey swinging through the trees and I saw a bunch of Pidgey's flying away from it. I knocked on the door to be answered instantly.

"Hello Niall!" Professor Oak said as he beamed at me, "come in, come in" The large irony of him having large oak doors towering over you like he does himself makes me laugh every time I visit, and I couldn't help but give a mild snigger as I entered into the large hallway and following him down to his sitting room.

"Right Niall, I have here your Pokedex, and a Pokenav for you to use on your journeys, I know you already know how to use them as I remember Terry telling you about them on his first visit. That reminds me, where is Terry?"

"Oh Terry has left with his friend already. He said that due to me not being a good enough trainer yet that I'll just slow him down."

"Oh…Oh. So do you still want to go on the journey then? I mean I know you're in a better position now than Terry was when he started but you know, you can always wait?"

"No, no!" I exclaimed, shocked by his comments. "Of course I'm going to go and I'm going to meet up with Terry one day and I'll show him how wrong he was."

"Okay, okay. Right so over here I have the starter Pokemon. You can choose one to start with."

"Oh, sir. Sorry but I'd prefer to use Machop as my starter Pokemon seen as I've been friends with him so long."

"Oh well how about you choose and then you'll have two Pokemon to start your journey with? Oh how I'd have loved to start off like that when I was your age."

"No thank you. I'm just gonna take Machop," I said standing up in preparation to leave, putting the Pokedex and Pokenav in my bag as well as some food that Professor Oak had left next to them for me.

"Okay, well I guess you're ready to set off then. Remember to say goodbye to your mother before you leave and good luck" Professor oak beamed at me while shaking my hand vigorously and leading me to the door. I left the house and walked back down the road to my house, I could see Ash a few houses down and jogged over to say hello.

"Hey Ash" I said smiling from ear to ear. Ash was like a celebrity in Pallet Town, his journeys were well known and documented by many and I loved hearing about it.

"Oh hey Niall, so you're getting ready to leave?" Ash replied, his Pikachu jumping over to me so I could give him a stroke.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm just saying bye to my mum now and then I'm leaving for my journey."

"Oh cool, so which starter did you choose then? I don't like to pick favourite but tactically for the first few gyms I reckon Bulbasaur is best. But all of them are great Pokemon."

"Oh I'm using Machop as my starter Pokemon. I just feel that seen as we already have a great bond it'll help as well as I'd hate to leave him at home."

"Well that's great Niall. I'm gonna go see Professor Oak now, good luck" he said before setting off coolly down the road. His aura of relaxation had it's effect on me and some minor nervousness I'd had nestling in my stomach were gone. I turned on my heel and walked back to my house where I could see mum in the window.

"So this is it. Now both my boys are out on their journey's," my mum said when I met her on the pathway. "Have you got everything? Have you visited Professor Oak? Do you need anything extra?"

"Yes, yes and no. Mum I'm fine, I just need to get going," I said whilst I wrapped my arms around her in a big hug. "I love you."

"And I love you too, honey." She said whilst wiping her eyes. "Good luck." I set off down the path, and then down the road. Heading towards Viridian Forest.

    Chapter 3

It took me a few hours of walking until Viridian City came into site on the horizon, I knew I'd never reach so I clear some pollen off the floor preparing a fire pit for myself with the help of Machop. "Machop go get some rocks, we need it for the fire"

"Machop, Machop," was the reply as the sound of heavy feet ran away towards the edge of the road. Heaving my sleeping bag on the floor I unrolled it and placed it on the flat earth, I could see some litter strewn around from where previous travellers had made their camp. I suddenly jumped to the sound of Machop screaming so jumping up like a rabbit in front of headlights I raced over to where I had seen him leaving for.

"Machop!" I shouted as I jumped over a bush. "Machop, where are you?" Then I saw him tangled up on the floor, a Caterpie firing a stringshot at Machop.

"Machop, I'm here! Use the stringshot to pull him towards you and then use a Karate Chop," I called and instantaneously he followed my commands, like the loyal friend he is. The Caterpie didn't stand a chance and was K.O'ed straight away. I ran over to Machop, using a pocket knife to cut away the sticky string left after the stringshot. "Here let me help you with these rocks." I said to him as the two of us returned to our camp and enjoyed our first night of full freedom, watching the stars like the representation of the many trainers who had begun their journeys this month.

I woke up the next morning with the smell of an ousted fire nagging at my nostrils, the sound of a rustling filling my eyes. I sat up rubbing my eyes, I then stretch and looked over to the rustling noise at my back pack.

"Whoa-what? Oi, get away now" I shouted jumping up. Running over towards my backpack and attempted to pull it out of the wretched Mankey's fierce grip. I shoved my hand inside and reach for my pokeball, "Machop, I choose you! Use low kick."

Machop sprung from the pokeball, rolled forward and kicked the Mankey, into a tree, on his way up. The Mankey jumped to its feet and started to focus its energy before jumping and swinging towards Machop and used a Low Kick directly at his knee, upon this Machop returned with a Karate Chop right on the Mankeys head. It lay motionless on the ground, playing dead, but mine and Machop's naïveté was our mistake as we closed in for a better look. The Mankey jumped and using me as a springboard rocketed itself at Machop. Scratching him numerous times before I commanded Machop to use yet another Low Kick and to follow up with a Karate Chop. In the early morning sun dust filled the air as the Mankey landed with a loud "thump!" I reached into my bag and pulled out a pokeball, threw it at the Mankey, the joy filling my face as I knew I'd captured my first Pokemon.

I returned my Machop to his Pokeball, congratulating him as he went, cleared up the camp and set off towards Viridian City. I hadn't been travelling long before I got to a main road and out of the grassy fields, sometimes it just gave me the creeps hearing Pokemon rustling past and not knowing if they were going to attack. As I set off down the road I could see two people sitting on a bench about 200metres ahead. They looked like girls but I couldn't tell, one looked to have a skirt on but it could just be a long coat. After walking for around ten minutes I finally reached them and could see they were just feeding some food to their Pokemon. There was a Torchic on the bench next to a blond haired girl, her hair continuously getting in the way of her eyes so she kept having to reach and place it behind her ear. A Weedle was sat on her shoulder admiring each piece of Pokeblock as it came to him, there was a Rattata running around their feet and a Bulbasaur was sat on the other girls knee.

"Hey," the blond haired girl said, waving her hand at me. "Your Mankey want some food?"

"My Mankey? How do you know I've got a Mankey?" I responded, puzzled by her knowledge.

"Well it's been following you ever since it got released from its pokeball about a hundred metres back," she answered a smile spreading across her face. She flicked some food over to Mankey and he pounced on it hungrily. "I'm Alisha," she said and pointed to her friend, "this here is Lilly"

"Hey," Lilly called as she looked up from throwing more food to her Rattata.

"Hey I'm Niall," I said whilst releasing my Machop and passing him some food. "This is Machop and you've already met Mankey."

"Aaw he's a cutie. This is my Torchic, my starter Pokemon, on this little fella is my Weedle, I caught him just two days ago. Where's you starter Pokemon?"

"Oh, Machop was my starter Pokemon. I was given him by my brother Terry three years ago and decided to have him as my starter Pokemon. I caught Mankey just this morning which is probably the explanation as to why he wanted to escape the pokeball – I found him stealing food from my back pack." I said watching Mankey as he ran off to play with Rattata and Bulbasaur.

Lilly now looked up. "So when did you start your journey then?"

"Oh I started yesterday dinner time. Camped out in the forest over night and I've been walking to Viridian City for about an hour."

"Oh cool. We started last Thursday so around four days ago. We travelled from Viridian to Pallet Town on the Thurs day but didn't actually get our Pokemon till the Friday. We have been training in these woods and fields around here for the weekend and we plan on setting off to Pewter City today," Lilly replied as she stood up stretching her legs. "I'm planning to be a Pokemon Champion so do you fancy a battle?" She asked.

"Yeah, that'd be great," I said in response suddenly eager and pumped up for my first official battle with a trainer. "Mankey return."

"Rattata return as well, come on Bulbasaur lets go!" Lilly said as she jogged in to the middle of the path with her Bulbasaur in tow. I copied her and stood opposite, did a few star jumps as if I was going to be fighting myself. "Bulbasaur, use tackle and then growl"

"Machop, dodge it and hit him with a Low Kick." I shouted ready after already having had the battle with Mankey earlier, a potion had been used to replenish some health.

"Bulbasaur attack him with a Vine Whip and then plant a Leech Seed on him," Lilly said, she seemed mature and experienced in her battling strategy. She knew what she was doing. I responded with a Karate Chop but there wasn't much power due to Machop getting caught in the Leech Seed. "Bulbasaur use a Vine Whip again!" Lilly demanded.

"I know, Machop grab the Vine Whip like you did Caterpie's stringshot yesterday and then use a Karate Chop and then a low kick." I shouted, knowing that these tactics would work like they had against Caterpie. They succeeded and Bulbasaur was knocked out.

"Bulbasaur return, Rattata I choose you." Lilly said, her confidence knocked slightly.

"Yeah, you too Machop, come on out Mankey!" I said knowing that the Leech Seed would only be getting worse for Machop and it would disappear once inside. "Now Mankey, use a Low Kick," I said in an effort to gain the upper hand. But Rattata dodged and bit the leg causing Mankey to cry out in pain. "Come on Mankey you can do this, Low Kick again." But this time Rattata just dodged, as Mankey's leg retracted he spun round and at that moment Rattata used a quick attack, striking Mankey right in the back sending him flying and responded with another quick attack in quick succession. Mankey was knocked out, lying still on the path.

"Aaw, Mankey return. Come on out Machop!" I said, Machop would have a high advantage and I was sure I could win this with one clear Karate Chop.

"Rattata use a quick attack now," Lilly shouted croakily, a look of desperation spread across her face.

"Machop dodge it." The Rattata was moving so fast he just skidded straight past the evasive Machop, "now come use Karate Chop!" I shouted knowing I'd won. Like Mankey had moments earlier, Rattata lay motionless on the path. "Machop return."

"Pfft, I can't believe I lost," Lilly said as she walked over to shake my hand. "Good match, and Rattata return."

"Yeah, was great. You nearly had me with the Bulbasaur. You're good and I was lucky to win. So Alisha, do you want a battle?"

"Oh no," she said. "I don't think I'm as ready for it yet as you or Lilly."

"So, I'm going to keep on heading to Viridian City now. Thanks for the great battle and it's nice meeting you both." I said turning to head towards the direction of Viridian City.

"Oh wait, we're going that as well now. Starting our journey properly, do you mind if we come with you?"

"No not at all. We can travel together." I said happy that I had some people to travel with. The three of use cleared up and set off towards Viridian.

"And we can get there for dinner," Alisha said.

    Chapter 4

I walked into Viridian City in complete and utter awe, the sky scrapers towering above me were beautiful, the glass contrasting to the wonderful stone work of the old. I'd never left Pallet Town before except for a day trip to Cinnabar Town, which although exciting as to how we got there – we surfed using my mother's Seaking – once we were there, nothing was exactly spectacular about it. Just the lab we weren't allowed in, a burnt down mansion we couldn't explore and a Gym in which we had no reason to visit. I just had to help collect some berry's that were grown only near volcanoes. But now as we trudged along the streets of Viridian I couldn't help but get excited, it was full of trainers young and old who had either just started their journeys or was ending it after coming back this way from Indigo Plateau.

Battles were taking place left right and centre and we couldn't help but duck as a flamethrower soared just inches above our heads. The Magmar that it came from looked very powerful and the Raichu it faced was growing weaker with each passing second. We stopped to watch the on-going battle which had drawn a crowd of around thirty or so people, the trainer that owned the Raichu had his faced screwed up, shaking his brain in order to figure a way out of the dire situation. But the Magmar suddenly blasted the Raichu with a Hyper Beam and a used a Fire Punch in quick succession K.O'ing the Raichu making the audience woop and cheer in celebration. But instead of a modest celebration like the simple waves seen on TV, this trainer was arrogant and moved his hands in an upward movement, as if to tempt the audience into cheering louder and for a longer time but it had the opposite, someone from the back of the crowd released his Gyrados and used Hyrdo Pump on the trainer and his Magmar causing a sudden uproar of laughter from the audience. The arrogant trainer returned his Magmar and stormed off in the direction of the PokeCenter, hurrying his pace as people started to laugh as he went by. The crowd dispersed and we walked on passing the defeated Raichu owner who was on his knees re-arranging his bag.

"You was unlucky there mate," I said as Alisha dragged us over to help him. "Who'd of known his Magmar would know such powerful attacks."

"Oh, oh hi. Thanks. But I guess I should of, did you not here he got past three of the Elite Four. Someone only whispered it to me just a few minutes into the battle." The boy replied, a small smile crept across his face as he laughed at the stupidity of the situation. "It turns out a lot of people knew, but I've just returned from completing the Orange Islands as my first journey so I wouldn't know."

"Oh you've done the Orange Islands, really? What's it like?" Lilly demanded forcefully as she moved me out the way with her elbows.

"Oh it's alright, a lot different being on the boats all the time haha especially as I get seasick easily," replied the boy, laughing as he thought back to not so long ago times.

"Come on, I'll show you to my brother, he's at the PokeMart." The four of us took the short journey down the street and round the corner discussing their starter Pokemon as they went. "Yeah, cool you got to to start with a Machop. That's like me, I live up in a small cottage on Mt. Moon so Professor oak came to visit me up there so I could head straight to the Orange Islands. But he forgot the mandatory starter Pokemon, all fifteen of them so he gave me the chance to catch a Pokemon to use in the wild and living up in the mountains there wasn't much choice. My first attempt on an Aron nealy succeeded but in the end I got my Geodude." The boy, who's name was revealed to be Arthur, described as we eventually entered through the doors. One glance towards the check outs and we could instantly see his younger brother Harrison, struggling with the bags of potions and antidotes and Pokefood he'd bought.

"Sorry Arthur, I couldn't find my wallet so had to go back to the hotel. Here's the stuff you wanted," Harrison said, his lack of confidence obvious as he shook violently and barely made eye contact with any of us.

"Hey, Harrison. This here is Alisha, Lilly and Niall. They're all starting their journeys this week as well like you." Arthur said grabbing some bags and leading the way. "So you guys wanna see the Lapras display at Viridian Park?"

We all nodded in agreement, with Alisha giving her opinion on the matter. Positive nonetheless though.

We walked over to the edge of the lake and watched the Lapras as it gracefully surfed round the lake, it's children following in an organised routine as the Bubble given off from the mother Lapras was popped with short, small blasts of Water Gun from each child in the order they were in in the line. It was truly beautiful and something I couldn't imagine.

"Who's the owner?" I asked. "They could seriously do well as a Pokemon Co-ordinator."
    Lilly answered.

"We don't know. We woke up one morning a few years back and they were just here in the lake. Each year she performs her routine with her new borns hatched maybe a month earlier, and then performs this routine the first week of April each year. Almost like an advertisement to new trainers to capture her children."

"Really?" Harrison called. The first time we'd heard him speak voluntarily since we first met him. "So, can I catch one?"

"Yeah, if you're able to catch them, they normally caught by people who have had a years' experience or new trainers with a grass type starter Pokemon." She replied. A smug look on her face. "Like me."

"Oh don't worry Lilly, I think I can handle this," Harrison said, reaching his hand into his pocket.
Lilly answered back quickly, attempting to get the last word in, "I bet you can't. how about ten coins?"

"Oh Lilly, I wouldn't if I was you. Just watch!" Arthur called from behind us, a smile spreading across his face. "Just watch."

I'm sorry for all the long chapters guy, this is the last one and is quite a short one...

    Chapter 5

Harrison dropped his bag to the floor, took a few more steps and then released his Pokemon from it's ball. "Electrike, I choose you."

"Whoa," I gasped in awe. Flipping my Pokedex open immediately.

"Electrike, It stores electricity in its fur. It gives off sparks from all over its body in seasons when the air is dry." The electronic voiced said before it was flipped away and put pack in my bag.

"How the hell did he get that?" Alisha said, her mouth open wide as if she was catching flies.

"After the mistake he made with me Professor Oak just decided on sending Harrison his Pokemon from the lab to Harrisons PC, but he made a mistake and sent him Electrike. Ya know, for a genius he does make quite a lot of mistakes." Arthur said whilst crossing his arms and sitting on a nearby bench. "And Harrison has trained him up loads, even used a TM to teach it Shock Wave as its first powerful electric type move and took me off guard when I used my Smeargle. Zapped him in one before I had a chance to shout my commands. I mean I'd only just caught Smeargle on the journey hope so he was weak but still. Must have had some training whilst he made his way here."

The Electrike was stood in front of Harrison with sparks flying safely off, Harrison had an impatient look on his face, as if a new found confidence had taken over now he'd revealed his Pokemon.

"Will you lot stop gassing and let me get this show on the round?" He said before turning round and whistling loudly. "This is how you do it. Electrike, use a Shock Wave on the last Lapras."

Immediately the young dog like creature ran forward, jumped from the edge of the lake to a small rock a small distance into the lake and used a Shock Wave upon landing, a direct hit on the last Lapras, that was about twenty metres ahead of it, just as it had sprayed it's Water Gun.
"Now Pokeball go," Harrison shouted throwing the ball at the unconscious Lapras and capturing it. "Electrike return." Walking coolly over he had a smug grin on his face, obviously proud of himself and picked up his bag. "So how about those ten coins Lilly?" he said before walking off towards a hot dog stand with Alisha and Arthur in tow.

Lilly and I stood there, glanced at each other in shock and raced after them.

"Hey guys, wait up," we called.
