I was planning these for when fire red and leaf green come out.

Arcanine [sp atk + / def -] @ lum berry
    EVs [sp atk / atk]
    ExtremeSpeed
    Flamethrower
    Crunch
    Return

My plan for this guys is to be my start and counter the various annoying startes there are. Flamethrower will torch skarmary, Ninjask will be destroyed by extremespeed. And its also obviously a mixed sweeper.

    Scyther [spd+ / sp atk -] @ scopelens
    EVs [spd / atk]
    slash
    silver wind
    swords dance
    -need a filler idea here

This will be a physical sweeper. I value slash over return, because of its critical factor, and scopelens will increase that. For that filler don't say HP Fighting, because I am not one to use action replay or gameshark. Perhaps substitute, counter, protect, or safeguard?

Return isn't serving much use on Arcanine with Extremespeed around. Especially if you PP Max ES.

Aerial Ace is the obvious choice for Scyther's final move.

Put return to something else... Put it as Aerial ace (preferably HP Special but that's not an option so AA will have to do)

I... am still not thrilled to rely on critical hit in such a way... but I guess that it's worth a try? Scyther isn't that strong as a sweeper due to the (relatively) low attack power. Even when using reversal, it's still not enough to OHKO. As the last slot I'll use quick attack as QA is always a very important move for teams to have.

I know scther isn't that good as a physical sweeper, but he can get the job done, plus its my second favorite pokemon. What do you guys suggest for me to put on arcanine instead of reutrn?

Like I said once already, use aerial ace in place of return... it's the only other physical move Arcanine can learn without Hidden Powers.

Scyther should still stick with endure/sub+reversal combo, but try liechi instead of salac for a risk that's worth taking... after a liechi boost, Scyther will be strong enough to sweep out most Pokemon... However the downside will be the lack of speed (for a reversal user, you need speed to be in 370+ to get those fast sweepers like Starmie)
