I want a shiny. Lots of people say that it's not worth it. I want a shiny so I can say that I'm not a rookie, and for unuiqueness. I wont spend HOURS on it, but i want to know: Is it worth it to look?

Well, in the fourth gen, you have "Shiny Chaining", which makes a good number of pokemon Shinyable. Otherwise, just catch pokemon like you normaly would to fill up the pokedex, as being a pokemon master is a VERY respectable title. You might find a shiny or two while looking, who knows?

just chain them with the Pokeradar and if your lucky you'll run into one. Personally I dont think its worth spending hours and hours to find a different colored Pokemon, it's not like it they're stronger now

i honestly like the rarity of them and that is why i have 31 but if you just want one to show of and don't care about how rare they are you shouldn't try chaining but if you like the rarity try chaining.

They're basicallt the same as regular Pokémon, bar the palette swap, so no, they're not really worth spending all that time looking for them.

If you happen to run into one, however, catch it.

I think shinies are only good if you run into them accidentally. It's like finding money in the street. You feel great if you find a fiver on the pavement, but not so much if you've just spent 10 hours trawling the streets for one.

I personally couldn't care less about shinies. They're only good for forcing avid collectors to trade you an EV trained battle-ready pokemon. >_>

Well, if you want a pretty [or not-so-pretty, depending on the shiny you catch], trophy for brag purposes then I say go for it.
Shinies in the GSC games also are stronger than normal Pokemon, so it's really beneficial to have one in that gen.

Aside from that, shinies are mainly only worth the amount of props you'll get from other Pokemon fans for getting a hold of one.

I care about the rarity-of course I do! But the color is cool and the bragging rights are good

I just wouldn't try. Shinies aren't worth wasting hours of your life to catch, if you do, it'll probably be useless (my first shiny was a Zubat- case in point), and even if it isn't, you'll still just keep it in your box and only bring it out for special occasions, like a fine bone china tea set.

In short, if you really want a shiny, don't try to find one- one will find you in time.
