Introduction

Hello everyone! I'd like to welcome you all to the Art of the Rite project thread! Here's where I'll be posting updates, screens, character bios, and whatnot. It's currently titled Art of the Rite, but I will more than likely change it. However, if it fits with the story line, I'll go with it! :D

Story Synopsis

Spoiler:

Regen... A planet in which time halted within the medieval ages. This planet consists of nothing but chaos and destruction. Prejudice extremists and sadistic dictators leave the planet in ruin.. However, in a time of depression and the wars of the Great Dragon Lords, the world is at a standstill. With extreme power and an unmerciful army to back her up, one child managed to overthrow the so-called Emperor. With time, the world of Regen began to prosper... With the minions of Hell in which she'd came. However, after a rebellion and the pure will of the people, her army retreated only to anger the new dictator.. Sheer anger and pure power, that rebellion was eradicated. Afterwards, everyone lost hope.

However, there was a small race within the Jinuichi Forest, known as the Kinsa. They were extremely peaceful beings and their princess, Alatéa, was exceedingly powerful for a mere wood sprite. After witnessing the near genocide of her race, Alatéa found a way to defeat the empress. However, during an extremely long battle, the young wood sprite couldn't pull through with her plan.. Sacrificing herself, she managed to seal the empress using the sacred blade dubbed Amaterasu. It was a very powerful blade, and using the power of the sun's pure light Alatéa sealed her within an temple.

Now, two millennia later greed consumed the mind. Due to the inflation that was going on in the world.. The temple was broken into and the blade was removed.. Yet, due to the extremely long period of time her body was unresponsive to the removal. Yet, her minions were the exact opposite! Flooding from hell below they devoured the human who removed the blade. The blade was taken to the opposite end of the world and hidden. The demons resurrected the Dragon of Decay known as Vayne; this was the empress personal weapon and it was very loyal. It remained within the temple, awaiting any sign of its master's return. Now with demons on the loose, Regen would slowly become the hell it'd once been. An orphaned child who was severely wounded passed out at the gate to the Kinsa woods. They took him in and healed him, raising him to be the one that would save them all before she arose.. The dreaded Queen.

World Development

As you make your way through the game, you'll see different places, people, and things.. Obviously. Anyways, during certain points you, being the player, will have dream sequences. These dream sessions are small hints of what's to come. These visions, so to speak, are actual events that happened from the past two thousands years ago. Suddenly a report from the news, alerts everyone of a slew of monsters flooding from a place known as Lucioi's Castle. Suddenly, the news reported is attacked by a shady character who mentions the removal of the sacred sword, Amaterasu. Now, the lands of Regen are being terrorized by these ancient monsters! The castle the monsters are residing from begins to pulsate with an evil aura. Now, the lands are being turned from the pure places they once were into decaying and basically dead areas.. They will be known as Dead Zones.

EVERYTHING ELSE SUCH AS Character Biographies, Characters[In General], and Screenshots ARE BEING HEAVILY EDITED, CHANGED, and/or REVISED!

Miscellaneous Notes

I'll post character biographies, themes, and possible original boss music later on! I really hope you enjoy the game and I hope it's fun and entertaining! Oh, I do wish to note.. It's got some language, innuendos, and partial nudity in it.. So there's your warning. Anyways, I'll update this post with everything once I get to them too. Oh, I'm also looking for an experienced mapper if possible; please PM me if interested.​
