ok here's a thought... in the pokemon gameboy games your free to challenge the elite four as much as you want... and since the pokemon series is based on the games... how come ash just doesn't take the Pokemon League challenge again??? There is no rule is there? and he already has all the badges.. and more powerful pokemon then he did before.. and he placed in the top 16 last time.. why not go for the complete win?

Because the series is far from over...Its too much of a victory to hand to him at this time.

Yeah, he's just started the battle frontier, and who knows how that will turn out(I actually think he might win, but who knows?) Oh and theres Shino... geez thats alot more episodes!! He might win that league if People think that its finnaly time to stick a fork in the pokemon anime and call it a happy end(but again, who knows?!?!)

hmmm, true. but wouldn't it make the series a little boring if Ash continued to stay at the same place for so long?
Also, the series would get really draggy.. Imagine: when you could have finished watching the Orange League season, would you prefer that Ash still stays behind time and battle at the Indigo League? I mean, he'd be a little 'outdated'.. new pokemon are being discovered, and yet, he's still at the caterpies..

Imagine Ash using a Caterpie, and Gary using perhaps a Wurmple... o.o

Well, they gave him the Orange Islands victory...

And I think they're not going towards giving him a big win as much as they're going for revealing the fact that Ash is, in reality, a Legendary Trainer. Once he figures that out, I think he'll start catching legendaries and controlling competitions left and right.

Speaking of the Orange League, I felt that was the best of his battles at all the other leagues.. Actually, the Indigo League was nice too, but the way Ash lost was really badly done.. He lost to Richie not because he was that much weaker, but because Charizard didn't listen to Ash and the rest of his Pokemon were tired after the encounter with Team Rocket. Really sad.

Sorry if I went out of topic :P
