Hey everyone! As you may know, I've been working on a fangame, and it is kinda... being slow due to some problems. So, I'll cheer myself up by being one of the few people to actually beat a Pokémon Legends: Arceus nuzlocke! Judging by the title, this will star Ash Ketchum - or rather, an alternative version of him - as the main character. I'll also change a few things - that aren't seen in-game obviously - so that it can be true to the anime as well. However, the story begins a little differently...

    Anyways! Here are the rules!
    Spoiler: Rules

With all of that out of the way, let's begin!

    Prologue: Camp of Darkness

Ever since he was a little boy, Ash Ketchum has always wanted to become a Pokémon Master. He tried his best even before becoming a Trainer, by making friends with the Pokémon. Many people wanted to help him, and he helped them as they hoped for. But, one day, he was given a question…

"Do you really want to become a Pokémon Master?"

At that point, Ash had no idea what to say. He ended up staying at his home for days, with his mother Delia Ketchum wondering what was wrong with him. Eventually, she decided to enroll him in a summer camp to snap him out of his mood. And so she went on to do just that.

That night, as Ash was asleep, something happened. His hand started glowing gold, the light which briefly distracted him. Luckily for him, he was able to stay asleep, and the next day, he woke up feeling refreshed. He went out of his room, and looked at his mother, but his eyes briefly glowed for a moment, confusing her. After an awkward moment of silence, Ash leaves his mother to attend summer camp.

Little did Delia know, it would be the last time she ever saw her son…

Eventually, Ash started his time at summer camp, but things were getting pretty hard. On the second day, he finds a sickly little girl who was forced to attend the camp against her wishes. He walked over to her, but all he got was a "STAY AWAY!", which made him terrified. Meanwhile, a shadow lurks over the little boy.

Three days later, Ash got lost in a forest. He wandered around for a few minutes, but then suddenly, she got scratched by… a Pokémon? The large creature roared as it charged towards him and sent him flying. He immediately crashed into the ground, where he found the girl from three days earlier being attacked by thugs. Though he managed to save her on time, he once again realized he didn't find the exit, and so he - while holding the girl - started to run very fast. "She needs help! I need to get to Professor Oak…!" he spoke to himself. Just as he almost reached the exit, he stopped as he felt her dying. That's when he realized… wait… something is wrong. Ash carried the girl's body to the exit to tell Professor Oak the bad news, only to see criminals causing destruction all around Pallet Town, shocking him.

"Ohhhh no… this is not what I expected when I agreed to go to summer camp! Why are things getting worse…?!"

Just then, something rapidly approached to attack Ash from behind, and another one jumped behind him to attack the little boy. Luckily, thanks to recent dreams he had, he dealt with them quickly as well. That's when he noticed that some of the entities that attacked him looked exactly like a Pokémon, but larger, with glowing red eyes, and enveloped in shadow and darkness. "Wh- These look so creepy…"

Suddenly, the little boy started to hear voices inside his conscious and mind, saying hurtful things to him.

    "No...no...no…"

The Pokémon multiplied rapidly, which Ash quickly noticed. "Ohhhh no… there's too many… might as well try to fight this huge mess…" he pondered to himself. He then rushed towards the Pokémon and attacked them with his punches and kicks, but then a shadow Nidoking ran toward Ash from behind to ambush him. He briefly screams, but he then trips the shadow Nidoking behind him, and grabs him from the back and knocks him out. He kept fighting until he got blown away by a shadow Pidgeot. A set of shadowy first partners of Kanto storm toward the young boy to deliver a Triple Finish toward him to finish him off, but he manages to dodge the attack and take them down, one by one. He then hears… more shadowy voices?

    "Must... resist…"

Just as Ash continues to fight, he discovers that they're beginning to get harder and harder to fight. "…no… they're too strong…" he complained. That's when she finds out that the shadow Pokémon are manifestations of all Trainers' negativity. "Wait… They're manifestations of every Trainer's negativity! As a Pokémon Master, I gotta keep fighting," he spoke to himself. He kept battling until a shadow Raichu managed to strike her down.

The shadow Raichu walked toward the young Ash and started stomping on him. He cried in pain, feeling very exhausted. "Enough…!" he spoke. At that moment, energy suddenly began to flow within him. "ENOUGH!!!!!"

While activating his aura for the very first time, Ash kills the shadow Raichu with a powerful blast, followed by a massive explosion which completely blows up all of the shadow Pokémon in the surrounding area. However, this only ends up causing a giant monster-like shadow Mew to appear. Luckily, the young boy is unfazed and proceeds to fight it.

Eventually, after plenty of Aura Spheres, Ash takes a breather, but alas, the Mew was unaffected. After a few minutes, he prepares to perform another attack, but before he could even do so, he was completely enveloped by the Mew's extremely large tail, which slowly crushed him from the inside. However…

NO. AS AN AURA WIELDER, I WILL PROTECT EVERYONE IN THIS WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!

Ash manages to break free and go super sayian! With this power, Ash performs an ultra powerful blast of aura and destroys the shadow Mew once and for all, causing a giant explosion. However, when it cleared, Ash was nowhere to be seen. Professor Oak, having witnessed everything, realizes what this means…

He sacrificed himself to save Pallet Town…

Yep, that's everything for the prologue! Next up is chapter 1 - where the events in Hisui starts to unfold!

Chapter 1 is finally here! I had to cut the catching tutorial scene, as well as the Wallflower dining scene to keep things simple and short. The next chapter will probably take me a while...

    Chapter 1: Unfamiliarity
Everything was dark. His memories were missing. He couldn't even open his eyes. It was as if he died while being amnesic. However, he could hear the waves of a beach…

    "Hoot!"
    "Cynda!"
    "Osha!"

…and the voices of a Rowlet, Cyndaquil and Oshawott…

"Wake up! Ohhh... Do wake up, won't you?"

Ash finally opens his eyes, seeing the three Pokémon in the beach. Upon hearing the voice rom before saying "Are you alive, my boy/girl?!", he then looks up, seeing a man with a purple hat. The now older boy manages to stand up easily and looks around before looking at the man. "You gave me quite the shock, falling from the sky like that... But thank goodness, you seem unharmed!" the man spoke.

"Where… am I?" Ash asked, being very confused. "Why, this is Prelude Beach, of course. Dear me, did the shock of your fall somehow addle your memory?" the man answered. "I must say, your clothing is...unusual. You wouldn't happen to have an acquaintance in these parts, would you?" Upon hearing this, Ash shook his head no.

"I see... You seem to be in a bit of a pickle. Might I offer some directions? Do you have somewhere around here you could stay?" the man wondered afterwards. "No, nowhere," Ash confirmed. "So you don't know anyone here, and you don't even know where to spend the night... Well...this is a proper pickle indeed. Are you quite sure you'll be able to survive?" the man then asked. "...I doubt it…" Ash sadly spoke, looking down. The three Pokémon look at each other for a moment as a breeze could be felt.

"I see... Well, no gentleman would abandon a person in such need!" the man then said to Ash, which made him smile a little. "Oh my, I'd completely forgotten! I had just caught up to these three runaway Pokémon when you tumbled out of the sky... It's almost as if they knew you'd appear here! Ah, but do you even know what a Pokémon is?" Ash silently looks at the three Pokémon, but he can't seem to remember anything… "Not exactly…"

"You...you don't? You truly have traveled a long way, haven't you? Well! These three here are what we call Pokémon. Very mysterious creatures, you see. Marvelous," the man responded. "Oh yes, and...what might your name be?" Ash, knowing he remembers nothing but his name, decides to speak up. "Ummm… my name's Ash…"

"Oho! So you're called Ash! That name has quite the ring to it! I imagine it must have some lovely meaning," the man then spoke. Ash simply rolled his eyes. "Oh, but I do apologize! I haven't even introduced myself! My name is Laventon. I am something of a Pokémon Professor. That is to say, I'm a scholar seeking to deepen our understanding of Pokémon. Yes, Pokémon such as these three here, whi—"

However, before Laventon could finish, the three Pokémon ran away.

"Oh, blast and bother! My darling Pokémon! Why must you run from me again?!" Laventon upsettingly spoke out, before looking at Ash. "I'm terribly sorry, but do you think you could help me round them up? I beg you!" And just before Ash could even answer, Laventon ran off. "Wait, you three! Waiiit!" Ash simply sighed and looked at his hands.

    "What am I, really…?"

That's when he noticed something that resembled a phone glowing in the distance.

Some time later, a young girl named Akari walks out of her home in Jubilife Village. She looks at the sky, and then at a Poké Ball in her hand. "That dream… I wonder what it meant…?" She sighed, feeling concerned about what's to come. She then starts to think about the dream she had.

All she could see was darkness, and a glowing yellow light. Akari was floating in a strange void, and looked around for a brief moment. "Hey… who are you?" she asked the light. "I am that which humans call Arceus," said the light, apparently a Pokémon. "It is well that thou art here."

Akari just floated there, confused. "Arceus… I'm afraid. I don't know what to do! I've been a coward when it comes to taming Pokémon…" she told it. "Don't be. Together with the one I sent from another time, thou will get stronger," said the creature. "I bestowed upon him the Arc Phone and thy mission that thou share with him: seek out all Pokémon."

Akari simply passed out upon hearing this.

"Get stronger and seek out all Pokémon…"

Just as Akari spoke to herself, she quickly noticed Ash standing in the Wallflower, and she approached him. "Who are you? I've never seen anyone dressed like you are. What if you were attacked by a Pokémon? You'd be minced meat in those flimsy clothes! If the guard let you through, you must have ties with somebody in the village… Perhaps you've met Professor Laventon? He's a scholar from a faraway place. His Pokémon do get away from him at times, though. It makes me a bit worried for him..."

"Hey… I'm Ash. A newbie to this place," said the young boy. "My name's Akari. I suppose I'm hardly one to talk—I've had some trouble with Pokémon myself," the young girl replied. "I was hit by a Pokémon move called Thunder Shock not long ago and had to take to my bed. But the professor...well... I do wonder how long he'll last."

"Unfortunately it's just as Akari says... I'm a clumsy sort of fellow, to put it mildly!"

Akari turns around and becomes shocked to see the Professor behind her, exclaiming "Professor!" "But everything will be quite all right now!" Laventon reassured her. "Ash here has agreed to help us with our Pokédex!"

"Excuse me?" Akari then asks. "You plan to appoint him to the Survey Corps? You can't just slap a badge on whoever you like without Captain Cyllene's permission!"

    "I'll allow it."

Ash and Akari turn around to see a woman walking towards them. "Captain Cyllene?!" Akari shouts. Ash looks in surprise, and in confusion. "Assuming the individual can contribute to the Survey Corps, that is," said the woman. "I am the captain of the Galaxy Team's Survey Corps. You may call me Cyllene. Professor Laventon has told me how you helped secure his Pokémon when they slipped his control. And now it seems he would like us to feed and house you in exchange for your ongoing labor."

Cyllene looks at Ash. "Hmm. You look to be 15 or so," she said to him. "Quite old enough to work for your keep. But we can't simply take on a stranger who wanders in among us, without any idea of their skills or origins. Tomorrow we shall see if you can prove yourself worthy." "Oho! A most reasonable decision, Captain," said the Professor. "Now, would you care to join us for a meal? I'm sure you've got plenty of questions for our visitor!" "That's quite alright," the Captain replies. "I prefer to eat alone so I might appreciate my meals without distraction."

And so she entered the Wallflower.

"Aloof as always, I see," Laventon says, briefly in disappointment. "Well, no matter! The rest of us can share a meal and some pleasant conversation, then, eh?" He then decides to order something. "Beni, old chum! The usual potato mochi, if you please—but make it for three today!"

That night, the trio finish their meals, with Ash finding the mochi very good. "That was quite delicious!" he spoke out. "Quite delicious indeed!" Professor Laventon chimed in. "Yes, the food was lovely," Akari added, giggling beforehand. "But more importantly… you do remember that Ash has a trial to pass to join the Survey Corps, don't you?" she then asked. "Not to worry!" Laventon reassured Akari. "I have complete confidence in Ash's skills."

Cyllene then enters the scene. "Let's hope it is not misplaced." She looks at Ash. "'Ash,' was it? For tonight, at least, we will provide you with a place to sleep. You may use our quarters there. But if you fail to pass the trial we put to you tomorrow, you must move on. You will be expelled from the village to meet your fate – and perhaps your death — in the wilds."

She then leaves, as a distraught Ash briefly watches.

"Captain Cyllene's somewhat like Hisui, in that they're both quite harsh," Akari noted. "Now now, she simply puts on a stern front to help keep us all safe," Laventon reminded her. "At any rate, I think it's time we turned in for the night, eh? It's a good thing one can't fall out of the futons we sleep in here — I imagine our new friend has had enough falling for one day! And with that, I bid you both a good night!" The Professor then leaves. "Yes, good night," Akari tells Ash before he leaves to rest. She then looks up in the sky.

"A rift in the sky... People falling from it... The world is full of mysteries."

That night, lightning struck somewhere, causing a Pokémon to cry out in pain.
