Okay, I discovered something odd today. When uploading my new avatar (See: one I have on now.) it was originally 170x220. I tried uploading it and letting it resize automatically during the upload. I used both .png and later .gif for transparency. It fit the file size limit and resized fine.
The problem? The background was white, not transparent.
I then tried resizing it manually in GIMP so that it wouldn't need to be resized. This time, it had the transparency it was supposed to.

While I did find a workaround for this bug, I thought it would be a good idea to post this problem so that if for nothing less other people experiencing this would know how to work around it, and if nothing more perhaps it could be fixed.
