Suggestion: Awards

I was wondering, aside from making sprites, writing fictional stories, etc. Why don't we have awards for those who made the best of the best. Why don't there be like Best Scratch-Made Sprite Award or Best Fictional Story Award. I'm sorry if this is a bad idea and I wasted your time.

I'm fairly sure there are plenty of emblems that fit what you're looking for.

What Roswell said. There are certain emblems that are given when necessary, and I think we have emblems that fit the criteria of your examples.

I've seen some annual awards on sites for more general things like "Kindest user", "Biggest fan of x", "Most likely too x" and that general kind of stuff.

That could be a good idea for the site as you already have the emblems to award more serious things...

We already do whenever there's a get-together.

Besides that, the FF&W kids have already pretty much discussed this. You can read my full response to the issue (after which the thread mysteriously petered out because I'm awesome like that) here. Currently, we're trying to improve the key issue I'd brought up with the Reviewing Challenge (which I'd also recommend you check out because we could use any kind of opinion), but it's hilarious to note that right after the last challenge ended, reviewership took a swan dive.

Tl;dr, FF&W has already thought the entire shebang about fic contests through. Folks from other sections can be the spokespeople for those forums, though. I don't visit them enough to know whether or not, for example, your idea for a scratch sprite contest would work.

Aren't these sorts of things included in the Member of the Year competition regardless?

I believe so to be honest, most of the MotY categories do cover these things.
