3rd Gen Bad egg

    one day i was walking and i saw a pokemon who looked simeler 2 this quetion mark surrounded by rings it was lv 0 so i caught it and when i checked it it was a bad egg:surprised . so i decieded to try to hatch it. when i healed it at the pkmn center the nurse told me that my pokemon was infected with POKERUS it has been a month after i got the bad egg and the POKERUS was still their. what is POKERUS?, what does the bad egg hatch, when will POKERUS wear off???:shocked:
     
    This is bad im not trying to scare you but this ruins your game! After you get the bad egg it sais to be that it ruins your game I have no proof becuase I have never expireienced this but it might happened!
    Theres a thread on PC in this forum but I was searching for it but didnt seem to find it eh..sorry:(

    Pokerus doesn't destroy your game. Where on earth did you hear that? Pokerus only doubles the amount of EVs that the infected Pokemon gains. Although its called a virus, Pokerus is a GOOD thing if you know how to use it. No need to worry about Pokerus.

    The Bad Egg on the other hand is a problem. People have all claimed that the Bad Egg will erase or damage your current file or damage your game. I've never actually seen any proof of this, and I don't plan on testing the claims either since I don't like the risk.

    In any case, so long as the Bad Egg doesn't hatch, you're fine. Just store it somewhere and leave it alone and you'll be fine.

    I never sais poke rus destroyed your game! Badd egg just store it in the computer leave it alone and youll be fine like demonchaos916 said!

    Yeah Pokerus is very good your lucky to have it.Rememeber to use it the right way.

    The bad egg is very bad actually lock up in the Pc and stay away from it.

    so u say I sould delete the bad egg or trade it to this dumb guy that has nothing to suspect. my friend said he got a celibi from it is he right???:sean: :lg: :15: :latias: :os: :mew: :mew2:
     
    Eh, how would I know? I've never took the risk of hatching it.

    I suppose it is possible to get a Celebi (or any other Pokemon for that matter) from hatching a Bad Egg. From the definitions I've heard that describe Bad Eggs, they are Eggs that are missing the data that tells the game what will hatch from it. So when it hatches, if the game can't manage to fill that data with something valid, then I suppose thats when it'll "screw your game up." But if it does fill the data with valid Pokemon data, then I guess it could hatch into anything ranging from the pathetic Caterpie to a Celebi.

    Remember, this is just what I've assumed from what I've heard.

    Bad Eggs are usually the result of incorrectly entered codes.

    And you can't delete the Bad Egg. You're not allowed to release Eggs, even if they are bad. Only way you're going to get rid of it is by hatching it and seeing what happens, trading it, or modifying it using codes that change what Pokemon is in which slot of which box in your PC.
     
    I wouldent also take the risk its very risky even though your freind got Celebi you might not and it can delete your game. I would just say to leave it in the PC and never touch it!
     
    this story reminds me of when i had my sapphire game (i lost it :( ) i put in a code to get i think latios or something, then i end up with a bad egg! sadly i didnt get no pokerus thing, i tried hatching it, but i wouldnt take that risk, so i put it away forever the end.

    Lol, I got that egg with codes too but I never tried ta hatch it. XD

    Hmph. Nothin' can ever happen ta yar game so long as ya don't save after it screws up, IF it screws up. Tch, I've only had one experience with my game gettin' erased an' that was Yellow an' still ya needed ta save for tha game ta be completly erased.
    I say hatch it. Although I think there are 2 possible scenarios:

    1) the egg will never hatch
    2)the egg will hatch and freeze the game

    If I were you I'd make sure it doesn't halt tha game. ch, I wouldn't wanna save my game when that egg's close ta hatchin' an' there's no pkmn center nearby. ^^;;

    cant you just release the bad egg to get rid of it?
     
    Bad eggs take a looooong time to hatch; you have to run around for millions of steps for it to hatch without the fast egg hatch code using the Action Replay. When they do hatch, they will freeze your game, but not permanantly. Hatch it, and if it freezes your game, turn the gameboy off and turn it back on without saving and everything should be fine, and don't try hatching the egg again. :)
     
    From what my source says,the pokrus is some-what a 'good' thing. Its somehow increases all you pokemons attack power. However there are some nasty side effects.
    Its best not to take any risks and release the egg or get rid of it before it does any potential unknown harm to your game.
     
    ... pokerus is good, it can double ur EVs
    about the bad egg, i've got it before and it is in my party a long time, but it never hatch.

    I think most of us are aware the question has been answered, yet you're the one going through old threads and reviving them. This thread isn't a month old, so there isn't much of a need to close it according to the "rules", but that's up to the mods.
