Baton Pass

Hmmm. I heard from a few of my friends that having a Baton Pass team is really good. Problem is they won't tell me anything other then that (punks). Now I know what baton pass is, but I'm not to sure how to use it exactly with a team. It keeps my Pokemon's buffs if that's what you want to call them in effect.

Say for example I used sword dance 3x then used baton pass that Pokemon would still have those buffs in for when I bring him in later. Problem is by the time I get 3 sword dances in I'm already past half health. Then when I bring him in, he just takes a hit and dies. Suggestions? Should I wait for the Pokemon I change him with to die then bring him back into play?

Also if I do go with a baton pass team, what would be some recommended bpers and what moves? Maybe some sort of order to use them in to give me some idea. Thanks for the help to those that reply.

In my experience, some of the popular Baton Passers are Ninjask and Umbreon.

yea dude ninjask and umbreon, umbreon for the les experinced i think, nijask is good to pass of speed and maybe one or two sword dance, i like umbreon more ill need to work on one

Ninjask, uses substitute, gets a speed boost, heals with Leftovers
Uses Swords Dance, gets a speed boost, heals with Leftovers
Depending on if hit or not, substitutes again/swords dances again, heals
Gets a few Swords Dance and Speed Boosts, baton passes to someone like Umbreon
Umbreon uses Curse to get more attack and defense up, and thanks to those speed boosts from Ninjask the speed won't go down too much. Good idea to give Umbreon wish too.
You could also pass to a Vaporeon with Acid Armor.

Then after all of your Baton Passes you pass once more to someone like Salamence/Tyranitar. Then pwn.

I alternated between Substitute and Protect with Ninjask for six turns, then Baton Passed to a slow, high-powered sweeper for 600% speed. Not even another Ninjask could outrun that. :D

It passes the effects of any buff moves or abilities like Agility, Swords Dance, or Ninjask's Speed Boost, etc.

It also passes any debuffs, such as stat decreasing moves, but does not pass status effects. Not too sure on Perish Song, anyone know?

It only boosts it by 400%, each stage is 50% of said stat.

So it would be more like
Ninjask base speed stat - 400 [Random number]
    Ninjask after 1 speed boost - 600
    Ninjask after 2 speed boost - 800
    Ninjask after 3 Speed boost - 1000
    Ninjask after 4 speed boost - 1200
    Ninjask after 5 speed boost - 1400
    Ninjask after 6 speed boost - 1600

The multipliers for each stage are:
    1 [No buff]
    1.5x
    2x
    2.5x
    3x
    3.5
    4x

And so on, though you can only go up 6 stages before it maxes out. When it says "raises x" it increases/decreases by 1 stage, when it says "sharply" it is raised/lowered by 2.

Sorry if it's really confusing :p

I'm always the first to reccomend scizor as a BP'r. Why? well, for one, it's immune to poison, so that won't be passed on. It can swords dance, agility, AND substitute. It also doubles as a defensive wall. Meaning, if you create a substitute, it may not "fade" because of scizors defense. If you BP WITH a substitute, your next pokemon is assured to come in safely.

Baton pass does NOT pass status effects. Ninjask could also pass substitutes, Sword Dances, and has a natural speed boost. Scizor is a decent BPer, but it is limited due to it's poor base speed; which I think maxes at 281 WITH a +speed nature. I personally think Scizor is a better pokemon to pass to, as is a very good sweeper, or in my case a Reversaller[Resisting Sand Storm is awesome]. Ninjask also has the speed needed to ensure it goes first to create a substitute and take a hit without dying, or losing too much HP to be unable to sub.

What are some good Pokemon to pass to then?
You've already mentioned Scizor, any other good ones?
Also appreciate the help. A lot. Most people have been, dare I say it, "Pokejerks". XD

Scizor, Ninjask, Celebi, Umbreon, Smeargle[If done right], Yanmega?, and Scyther are all good Baton Passers

If you're using speed buffs, it'd be ideal to pass them onto someone powerful but slow, like Tyranitar or Metagross.

actually baton pass can pass on confusion o_O
i was using umbreon and it got confused, then passed it to latios and when it tried to attack it was confused too o_o

Hey what about Aipom/Ambipom, are they good ones?

I'm not sure, I've always used Ambipom as a sort of annoyer...thing...Double hit, then U-turn on out of there. You can pretty much pass to any sweeper, Speed boosts can go either way, if it's Attack then to a physical sweeper, Sp.Attack to a special one.

Physical examples are: Swampert, Garchomp, Salamance, Metagross, TTar, Gallade, Infernape

Special examples are: Gardevoir, Gengar, Salamance, Porygon Z

I meant status effects such as Poison, Paralysis, Burn. Though I didn't know confusion could be passed. Thanks for the information.
