Hi. I'm new to ROM hacking. I was doing some work on a Leaf Green hack. It looks pretty good for now,but there is only one problem. When I choose my starter the battle with the rival starts. Everything is fine up until I (or the rival) use a damaging move (Tackle or Scratch). When the moves are used the game just freezes. I'm stuck on this and it's really anoying. Could anyone help me figure this out ?

Tools you're using? If you are in the beginning recommend starting from 0.

    There are two possible issues:
    1. You accidently overwrite some kind of move data or battle script, which is unlikely.
    2. Or, you modified the initial rival battle script in Oak's Lab, and messed up the text data.

Or, I could be completely wrong, but this would be my guess.

    I'm using the following:
    1. Advance Map 1.92
    2. XSE
    3. Advance Text
I did a bit of work with Overworld Editor, but I don't think that could mess it up.

I used XSE mostly for the script and I've changed the Rival and Prof. Oak text completly. And also, when I use the "Walk through walls" cheat and go to Rout 1 into the grass, the game still freezes when a damaging move is used

Oh,I had a breakthrough. I used the Walk through walls cheat code to go to Route 1 and battle a Spearow. It used Peck and everythign was fine. It seem only Tackle and Scratch are a problem

It's really hard to believe that I have to start all over again. I mean, I haven't gotten far,but still it took me a lot of time to do it. I managed to overcome the problem with the first battle. I just used YAPE and changed the moves that the starters learn to some other moves. And it worked. But,when I got to route 1 and batteled a wild Pidgey it froze again. Then i changed it's moves but still the same problem. Then I started batteling only the Sperows (which I added thee in Advance Map). And everything went well because they weren't altered. Then my Pokemon reached the next level and the game reset itself. I'm really confused.

not recommend changing them after the attacks, you can escape the problems now, but then you will have major problems with it in future. The only thing you have to do is start all over again, One thing can be corrupt your attacks animations in game.
