Author?s Note: My second fan fic here at PC. I actually got a title for this one. It might not be the best, but it?s better than no title at all. Feel free to post here. I want to hear not only what you like, but criticism too.

Also, there are characters from The Story of Two Eevees, but this is not a sequel to my other story.

    Without further ado: Becoming

    Chapter One

No one needed to tell Casey that she was good. She had known that all along; ever sense she started her Pokemon journey.

Casey Sowers was 11 years old, and already was recognized by the Elite 4 for her superb job at training. She had gathered all the badges in the Kanto region, and figured that she could get the newer sixteen later on. Right now, she needed to go to Nomeko, an island whose location is unknown, even to the trainers who would be going there.

Nomeko invited the top trainers each year to the island for a week. It was a small island, with an even smaller city by the port. They had the necessities: a Poke Center, hotel, Poke Mart, Wal-Mart, and some other small stores. There were also houses, but the only people who lived on the island were those who owned it and worked there.

The point of the island was not to be a bustling city. The island existed for the trainers to become better than they already were. The island was full of strong and wild Pokemon, even stronger than those in the Unknown Dungeon, where the fabled Mewtwo was said to roam. It also had courses that the trainers could enroll in to help build strategy or knowledge.

The invitation had arrived in the mail a week earlier. Her mom and dad were both very impressed with it and encouraged Casey to go for it. Of course, she didn?t need any encouragement. She had already decided by that point that she was going.

Now that she was packing, it didn?t seem real to her. She knew the experience would be better if all her Pokemon could come, but each trainer was only allowed to bring two. She had chosen Snoopy, her Arcanine, and Ashes, her Gengar, to come. She left the others with Kate, her friend. She knew that if she left them with her parents they would become fat and lazy. So, she let her best friend train them for the week that she would be gone.

She continued to pack, throwing in jeans, skirts, tank tops, t-shirts, pajamas, socks, sweatshirts, bathing suit, and underwear.

?Clothes?? She took a final look at the pile she had just made and approved of it. ?Check.?

She looked onto her list to see what else she would need. The following things were not checked off: stuffed animal, money, gameboy, and C.D. player. She found the stuffed animal, and shoved him into the suitcase. She just barely managed to zip it up and figured it was due to her sloppy way of packing.

She took the gameboy, money, C.D. player, her cell phone, and lip-gloss and put it into the purse her mom had bought her just for the occasion. Everything was such a big deal to her. If Casey had it her way, she would have just grabbed an old purse that she had from before, but her mom wanted her to get a ?good reputation? at Nomeko.

With all her stuff packed, she headed down to the kitchen, where her parents were.

?Here you go dad,? Casey said while handing over the suitcase.

?Why thank you,? her father said sarcastically. He took it by the handle, and walked it out to the car?s trunk.

?Oh Casey, you look so grown-up in that,? her mom said while looking over her outfit.

Casey rolled her eyes. She could take hours upon hours to get ready and her mom would say it looked horrible. Then, on special occasions, Casey would take no time to get ready, and her mom said that she looked wonderful. Like today for instance. She had thrown on a peach colored tank top with a dark blue jean skirt, and topped it off with flip-flops.

?Uh, thanks,? Casey said, not having anything better to say.

?Well, times-a-wasting,? called her dad. Casey and her mom walked out the garage door, Casey grabbing her sneakers before she left.

?Almost forgot,? she said with a relived laugh.

The whole family jumped into the car and drove off to the S.S. Anne port.

After a long car ride and the always long security checks, Casey was standing in front of the grandest ship she ever laid her sea green eyes on. It was huge and painted a stunning white that stood out against the old deck she was standing on. It had a huge area where you could just relax and Casey knew there were many more things inside the ship. It reminded her of Titanic.

?Bye, sweetheart,? her mom said while embracing her tightly. She gave her daughter a quick kiss and than turned around, trying to hide the tears from Casey.

?We will see you in a week,? her dad whispered to her. Casey gave him a quick hug and kiss, and watched them walk away.

From there she got in line to get on the boat. The line was long, and Casey began to fiddle with her hair, twirling auburn colored strands around her pointer finger. The boy in front of her was shifting his weight from one leg to the other, obviously nervous. He lost his balance, and fell backwards, tripping over Casey?s suitcase and than landing on the deck, but just barely. A couple more inches and the 12-year-old would have been soaked.

?Oh, I?m so sorry. I don?t know what happened. I was standing there and ?? the boy started.

?It?s all right,? Casey said with a laugh. ?I?m not going to hurt you or anything. Nothing in there that would break.?

?Thank goodness,? he said as relief filled his brown eyes.

?Anyways, I?m Casey, Casey Sowers,? she said while extending her hand towards his.

?Sowers ? you were the little girl who beat the Elite 4. Congratulations on that. Oh, and I?m Jonathan Burmeister, but everyone just calls me John. It?s easier to remember.?

?Right. So I?m guessing your coming to Nomeko too.?

?You bet I am. I don?t specialize in the same things you do, but I?m still a worthy competitor, or so people say.?

?Really,? Casey said, a bit confused by the statement.

?Well, I?m still a trainer. But my strength is bonding with my Pokemon. Kitoo, my Raichu, was my first Pokemon ever. Now we have the strongest bond and Kitoo never doubts me. Sometimes, she will know what I?m thinking before I say it.?

?Weird. Well weird as in cool,? Casey quickly corrected. John gave a quick laugh and than ran his fingers through his hair. Casey watched as the dark brown spikes found their way back into place and wished her hair would be as tame.

?It?s all right, everyone thinks it?s weird, even me. I know what your good in too. I watched you battle on Channel 5. You were simply amazing, always calm and thinking. You didn?t use the strongest attacks, you used the smartest attacks.? Casey blushed a little. ?Sorry,? John quickly said.

    ?Name, sir.?

John turned around to realize that he was next in line. He blushed before grabbing his bags and walking up.

    ?Jonathan.?

    ?Burmeister??

    ?That?s me.?

?All right Jonathan, your room is 457 and Charles will show you the way.?

John looked over to a man who appeared to be about 40. He was wearing a navy blue suit, just like all the others who worked. His black hair had gray streaks and his eyes were about as close to black as they come.

?I will take you bags and lead you to your room.? Charles began to lead John down hallways and up stairs until they arrived.

    ?Name, miss.?

    ?Casey, Casey Sowers.?

Casey sat in her room, watching a Rapidash race on Channel 34. She knew her mom had bet on one of the fire horses and she hoped she bet on the colt that was wearing the #5 saddle cloth. That horse, named Flaming Glory, was pulling away from the pack, and seeing as he had 1/43 odds, her mother would get $43 dollars for every $1 she put down. If she bet on that horse.

She continued to flip through channels. Horror movie, weather, news, music videos, reality TV shows, but nothing that Casey wanted to watch. She didn?t mind the Rapidash race, but she feared she would fall asleep watching reporters talk about odds for the next 3 hours.

She decided to go get something to eat. After all, it was 5:34, usual dinner time for her family.

When she arrived at the buffet, she was stunned to see how few people there were. There was 4 boys, and 3 girls, excluding herself. She knew that few people were invited, but she expected at least 25 to come.

?Everyone is here, good. Miss, could you take a seat? Anywhere is fine,? a man asked. He was tall, wearing the uniform suit, and appeared to be in his early thirties. His eyes were green and his hair was blonde.

Casey quickly sat at a table with John and another boy.

?You all know why you are here, correct??

    Everyone mumbled ?yes? or ?yeah?.

?Good. Now, we will be on this boat for 2 days: today and tomorrow. We will arrive at around 10:00 P.M. tomorrow. From there, somebody will direct you to your cabins. You fill in free time, but no battles on the boat! Anything else is fine, but please do use the common sense god gave you. Any questions??

The silence that followed could have deafened someone. Casey considered dropping her fork on the floor, just to see everyone?s reaction, but decided against it.

    ?All right, dig in!?

    Thanks to both of you.

Well Mai (at another forum) corrected some of the grammar mistakes, and so I edited those in there. I doubt you would even notice if you wern't paying attention to the mistakes. I deleated a whole one word, added some commas, and changed another few things. Anyways, I'll try to get the next chapter up soon.
