Best Gym Match in First Season?

    ok who had the all time best gym match vs ash? let me review the matches...1.Brock ok first was brock.. who beat ash with his onix.. the rock gym floor moving into place was pretty sweet... and although brock wasn't all that intimadating he had a special edge too him.. after ash super charges pikachu ash beats brock by pikachu shooting off lightning towards the sprinklers and waters pours over onix. 2. Misty, Not all the exciting... besides the fact that misty and ash are actually battling... ash wins with butterfree beating misty's water pokemon.. not all that great. 3. Lt. Surge very cool battle with electric vs electric... pikachu is hurt very badly in his first battle with Raichu and has the decision to evolve and become an equal or fight in the name of all pikachu's!!! using its wits pikachu's uses its tail as a electric block and ends up beating Raichu. 4. Sabrina.. Actually quite scary with her having her self as a little girl traping ash and co. and trying to kill them with a giant ball..sabrina uses abra but it evolves into kadabra and becomes more powerful... ash loses and then gets a haunter to follow him to Saffron city and make sabrina laugh until kadabra is no longer able to battle??? kinda weird but i guess w/e makes you win. 5. Erica... ok this is weird too as i remember... and its... been.. awhile since i saw this episode... ash actually never battles erica.. but her gym catches fire and ash rescues her gloom and then in her gratitude gives ash her badge... weird again. 6. Koga... ash finds himself in a fun house niga dojo... pretty sweet i think... he battles Koga's sister and then Koga.... fairly easy match for ash but the environment was good. 7. Blaine.. my personal favorite... with the match being held inside a volcano.. and the battle field held right about lava only seperated by a gym floor being held up by chains... pretty dangerous and sweet... as i recall i think even pikachu almost falls in the lava... great battle very exciting... 8. Giovanni (however you spell it) Weird that when ash shows up that giovanni is not there... instead they find our very own Team Rocket as the gym leaders in place of him! i dont remember if they use their pokemon or Giovanni's pokemon... all i know is that i wish ash would of battled giovanni... but ok there is the run down on the battles.. what's pokecommunity's favorite gym battle of the first season?
     
    Probally the Lt Surge fight with Pikachu vs Raichu. That was probally the most action packed fight out of all the gym battles he had in Kanto.

    I loved the gym battle at Vermilion City.. Pikachu vs Raichu XD I remember whenever I watch that episode, my sister and I would imitate Raichu and Pikachu and 'act' the whole battle out! (that was like... 6 years ago..) Now, I don't do that of course.. but I do occasionally jump off my seat out of excitement when I watch gym battles..

    Another nice gym battle (my second option) would be the battle between Ash and Blaine.. Charizard vs Magmar.. :P
     
    Cinnabar Island (Blaine)...it's the first real "battle" Ash had in a Gym. After all:

    1. Brock & Ash never really finished

    2. Ditto with Misty (and a lot of people irl were distracted by the fact that it was Misty)

    3. Lt. Surge was good, but Pikachu got whipped at first so it knocks the whole thing down (that and the fact that it was one round only)

    4. Sabrina wasn't really a battle, but just an excuse to include Lavender Town and give Ash a Haunter for a little bit...oh, and the bit of shippiness included.

    5. Erica...was just lousy...and again, they never finished

    6. Koga took forever to get to and then it was over in 5 minutes...lame

    7. Giovanni never showed up, so it was just Team Rocket with Pokemon they couldn't use that well.

    8. Blaine featured two battles, the first Fire Blast, the since-popular battle cliffhanger, Charizard listening to Ash for what I believe to be the first time, the VERY FIRST of the popular Seismic Tosses, Magmar's appearance, and a Gym Leader in a ridiculous wig.

    'Nuff said.
     
    I consider Blaine and Giovanni Season Two but I rather enjoyed them, more so with the Giovanni one.

    Anyway, for season one, I'll say Surge as the best match as that used tactics you could use yourself from the game (the Agility enhancement of doom). It showed a more realistic use of canon and in a quite stylish animated way.

    Although for gulity pleasure, the first match with Sabrina. I just rather enjoyed the sense of futility and ominous doom there.

    And snorlax? Learn to space.

    Ichapokemr is right. Most of the matches were easy. Blaine was the only real match in the series. Also Lt.Surge. But after Ash gained common sense.
     
    Actually, just a clarification with Ash & Misty match. Misty did actually beat Ash's Butterfree in the first round with her Staryu by hitting Butterfree and drowning it into to the pool. In the Second Round, Ash beat Misty's Starmie with his Pidgeotto by whirlwinding it away.

    I agree though, that it was not very exciting at all. But just wanted to clarify that. Sabrina First match with Ash was pretty cool I thought, but the seond match with him was just a throw-off.
     
    yeah i didn't think butterfree won it all but that was the only pokemon that i remembered that ash used, so thanks
     
    I have to say the Blaine VS Ash battle.

    First: It showed Ninetails who I love so much. I love ninetails.

    Second: The second battle was so cool with the battle location and with Charizard obeying Ash.

    I have to say those two battles were the best battles ever in the Kanto Gym League. They were so great with the cliffhanger and then the possiblity of Ash losing the second one. Remember the stand off after the Seismic Toss. So coolie.
