When pokemon Black/White 2 came out, one of their biggest selling points was that it was a sequel to pokemon Black/White 1. Around the time of its release, I was hearing a lot of how it was the only pokemon game that was a sequel to another, which i agreed with, for about 5 minutes. So i ask, in your guys' opinion, was black/white 2 the only pokemon sequel? I disagree, i believe that the Gold/Silver/Crystal games were sequels to the original Red/Blue/Green/Yellow games. I haven't played Gold/Silver/Crystal in awhile so forgive me if I overlook or get something wrong. The reason being is that the in-game characters make many references to the events in the original, once you get to Kanto. First off, you end up roaming around Kanto, same region as the original, next is Team Rocket, you're fighting them again, during your journey you will be told that X years (3 or 5?) ago a brave boy stood up and fought Team Rocket. Then the Gym Leaders in Kanto are still the same, except for Fuschia City who was Koga but is his daughter Jasmine(?) and Viridian City where Blue(your rival in the original) is now the Leader. Upon beating the Elite Four, you can climb Mt. Silver where guess who you fight? Pokemon Trainer Red, your character from the first game,on a side note he was hard as hell to beat if you just leveled up your pkmn by battling {XD}. Anyway, i'm not sure if this was just highly overlooked by pokemon fans in my area or what but these are just some reasons i can think of why it is obvious (to me) that gold/silver/crystal were sequels to red/blue/green/yellow. Feel free to post different opinions, or other reasons i didn't think of, I love a good discussion!
