Well, I was playing HG yesterday and I came across a Magikarp (and I looooooove magikarp) so I was like 'Huh, let's catch it... easy enough, it'll use splash and I'll get out a weak pokemon to lower it down etc, then catch it.'
Anyways... I paid attention to what was happening and first of all noticed that the Magikarp was... dun dun dun... LEVEL TWENTY. Yes. A level twenty magikarp, not gyarados. Insane, right?
So then I start battling this thing and the first move it used? TACKLE.

Obviously I fell in love with this oddball magikarp and caught it.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone else had similar experiences? I'm not sure what other pokemon or events it could apply to but I'm sure there's some more oddball pokemon out there, so yeah.

You can get Level 100 Magikarp in Platinum, apparently.

Thats normal, Magikarp learns Tackle at 15, it ain't strange.

It's just because magikarp always seem to use splash. And then the fact that it hadn't evolved O.o I know that it can happen, it's just 'cause the stereotypes are all "Magikarp used splash" and then "I swear, I'm gonna kill you when I get to level twenty".
Perhaps mine is just a late developer :)

I really don't see this thread getting anywhere, sorry.
