    I know that each Pokemon has a certain percentage of what it will be born as(male/female), but does anyone know of anyway of increasing the odds to make it come out a certain sex. I am currently breeding Thyplosion and the starting fire Pokemon for Sapphire and would like to recieve a female Cyndaquil, but so far I've only been getting male Cyndaquils. I keep restarting the game each time and this is getting very boring.

    to start with a female starter you need nothing but though luck the a chance 90% to 10% that you get a female starter so if you need it that bad try restarting th game 10 to 20 times

    For the given ones you just have to endure, but In Emerald if you have a pok?mon with the 'Cute Charm' trait in the first slot of your party the chance of getting a wild pok?mon of the opposite gender is raised by 50%. Beyond that, I don't think there's anything you can do about it, although there are rumors that your gender influences the gender percentages for wild pok?mon as well. Don't know if it's true though...

    Hmmm.....on my Sapphire if I wanted a female starter(note: starter) I only had to restart 4 to 5 times max. Either my Sapphire version loves me or I'm just lucky.

    i have no clue ^^;

    but if your talking about reciving a starter,then just save then restart untill you get one ^^

    The chance of hatching a female Cyndaquil is actually 12.5% therefor male is obviously 87.5%. Now, you're hatching a Cyndaquil and not finding it in the wild, so what Alter Ego said is completely useless in this situation. You should just bike around until the egg status is, "It's making sounds! It's almost ready to hatch!", then you should save the game. When it hatches and it's not a female, simply turn it off and repeat the process until it is.

    Nope. Tch, good luck with yar Typhlosions though. Lol, I was tryin' ta get a female Charizard an' their m/f ratio is 1/8. Tch, 'twas hard as heck. >_<

    That won't work for eggs. Gender, nature, IVs, and whether the Pokemon is shiny or not is determined the moment you get the Egg itself. You can rehatch that egg all you want, but you'll always get the same gender, nature, and IVs.

    That sounds pretty harsh, Simon. This is the second Cyndaquil egg. I have another one that's newer. Let's just hope that it turns our to be female. And BTW, C_F_G, all of the starters have a 87.5%(Male) and 12.5%(female) chances. That's the exact percentage. I wasl ucky when I first played Sapphire because I got a female Mudkip and it's first egg even came out female. I did restart to get the first Mudkip female, though.

    yes. in this case, though, harsh and true are one and the same. All pokemon IVs and other info are created the moment you get the egg, possibly as soon as the egg is made.

    Oh, sorry I didn't know. I just thought it was the same as the starter theory. Then all he can do is keep hatching I guess.

    so I guess you'll just have to keep your thyphlosion making eggs till one is a girl. happy hatching.
