I have a pretty good team that kicks butt. However, suggestions are always welcome. Preferably on moves. Especially on moves. By da way, i'm only on da elite 4.

    Mew lv.45
    Dynamic Punch
    Psychic
    Metronome
    Tri-Attack
    My starter and most
    powerful, even if its less
in level. Caught it @ level
    7 in my yellow version,
    and didn't have as much
    time 2 train it.
    Still very good.

    Kabutops Lv.65
Hard Rock (or w/e its called)
    Slash
    Hydro Pump
    Surf
    Ancient Power
REALLY POWERFUL!!!!!!! I origionally had Blizzard instead of Surf, but needed another H20 attack for when Hydro Pump ran out of PP.

    Articuno Lv.65
    Bright Powder
    Razor Wind
    Ice Beam
    Fly (hopefully replace)(Icy Wind???)
    Blizzard
    Good all-around. Has great stats
    and even stands up well
to elements tat r strong against it.

    Scizor Lv.43
    Metal Coat
Cut (or should I use slash???)
    Metal Claw
    Fury Cutter
    Pursuit
    A combo of normal/bug/steel/dark moves.
    Really good attack power. Needed
an anti-psychic move, but is there any better
    that pursuit he can learn???

    Ho-oh Lv.45
    Sacred Ash
    Fly
    Sacred Fire
    Fire Blast
    Recover
    I needed more fire PP,
so i added Fire Blast. I think
its pretty good, but it could
    be better.

    Bayleef Lv.43
    That seed thing
    Toxic
    Razor Leef/Giga Drain
    Solar Beam
    Iron Tail
Even though i don't have toxic or giga drain,
dats wat i want 2 put on it. Any suggestions?
    It seems weak.
Like my party? I am in desperate need of feedbac, so hurry up!!! Thanz.

Power up items aren't that good... that's all I say... raising a single move by 10% is just...crap...

btw, when you decide a move, be sure to check the stats of a pokemon. A pokemon like Kabutops for example needs a good powerful physical attack, etc.

Also, be sure to know what your opponent will be. Rushing blindly with movesets like that... low accuracy, low PP, charging, etc...you won't last a staller.

    First of all... we always assume to be viewing your DREAM TEAM, not the team you have at the moment. Things such as EV (if RS), IV, personality/nature (if RS) and levels are assumed to be whatever you want them to be (similar to how NB works). Those numbers are extremely important, so hope that you can post them out as well next time ^_^;

Assuming GSC... due to tri attacking mew

Mew- mew can be doing a lot more than this...

    Mew @ leftovers
    -swords dance
    -earthquake
    -thunderbolt
    -shadowball

Thunderbolt for anti-skarmory, and the others are obvious...

    Kabutops @ quick claw? *shrug*
    -rapid spin
    -swords dance
    -HP something physical
    -rock slide

Kabutops is not usable at all back here... terrible sp.att as well so don't use it as special sweeper

    Articuno @ leftovers/mint berry
    -reflect
    -ice beam
    -bubblebeam
    -rest

Too bad... can't do much back then, and still can't do much now in RS. Feel free to add in whirlwind somewhere as pseudohaze

    Scizor @ miracleberry
    -return
    -agility/swords dance
    -baton pass
    -HP Bug

I was never good with GSC... i think that's how things worked out back then. But i'm not sure...

    Ho-oh @ leftovers/mint berry
    -sacred fire
    -earthquake
    -shadowball
    -recover/rest

An evil ubar who can survive Rhydon rock slide... *shiver* Not everyone will like to play with you with so much ubar...

    Meganium @ leftovers
    -body slam
    -giga drain/counter
    -leech seed
    -reflect/light screen

Meganium can use too much moves and remains effective back then I don't even know where to start... the above isn't really a moveset, but more like a messy list of some of the many goodmoves it can learn...

Check the advanced trainer's guide in my signature to check out some common mistakes this team have (such as hydro and surf on the same pokemon, pursuiting scizor and so on)

Thanz u guys. But it is in my Gold version (sorry for not making that clear), so wat is this HP bug and HP something physical thing? Also, wat should i do against Wills team? I don't have any dark moves. Also, how can Bayleef get leech seed? Also, by taking away Kabutops water moves, u left me w/ only Bubblebeam, which is kinda weak. Thanz for da advice, though, and oni flaygon waz right about the items. Frostweaver, ur item choices helped a lot. Thanz.

HP=Hidden Power. IN R/S Hp's effect changes with each Pokemon depending on their IV/DV values.

the same goes for GSC too actually. your HP is pre-determined by IV/EV (IV and EV are same thing)

The elite 4 are completely a pushover... you don't need super effective moves to win. Just need to be high levels... I tried using a Chikorita to destroy the whole elite 4, and that's certainly far beyond impossible. Really I used body slam against an Onix and it can almost knock it out (has like 10 hp left ._.; )

Well this team has way too many physical sweepers to begin with... of course you'll be lacking special sweepers. There is also quite a severe lacking in pseudohaze, quick attacker to stop endure users, and also anti Suicune. However, focus on beating the game and learn the basics of the game first, then work on these specific cases.

that clears up a lot of questions. So should i scratch wat he said about hidden power, or duplicate the TM and teach it to those guys?

Hidden Power cannot be controlled like that... Hidden power can have a random type of any type except normal, and a power ranging from 31-70 for each type. You'll need to control you stats in order to get the needed stats to get the best hidden power (impossible to do on gameboy pretty much... without cheat that is)

However online battling you can control all aspect of your pokemon...

O yeah, for got 2 mention, this IS my real team at the moment, not my dream team. Besides Toxic and Giga Drain on Bayleef, everything i listed for my party is what i have now.

so should i teach those guys hidden power?

By da way, Frostweaver, u may have ur hazers and stallers and all, but while ur usin ur fancy schmancy status building attacks, i'll be cracking away at ur health with my brute force. I did read ur trainers guide, and since i don't have R/S, i was a bit lost. I did make a staller, but i still prefer brute force. Mayb stallers and hazers come in handy in link battles, but in da game all u need is brute force to win. I don't care what ur doin to my special defense, i'll just sit there hacking away at ur health, which is pretty much all that matters. After all, u win battles by getting rid of all their health, not by having a higher special attack.

    EDIT: Please don't double/triple post ^_^; If you have something to add, and no one posted after you, then use the edit button and add in whatever you have to add. And sometimes not everyone is here to reply immediately so give the thread a day or two ^_^;

I'll suggest no too for HP due to complete randomness... they can learn out completely chaotic. If it's gameboy, try to avoid Pokemon that relies on HP...

Never. EVER. Say that, not only because it might not be true, but it opens the doors for a **** of a lot of flaming possibilities.

However, suggestions are always welcome. Preferably on moves. Especially on moves. By da way, i'm only on da elite 4.

    Mew lv.45
    Dynamic Punch
    Psychic
    Metronome
    Tri-Attack
Psychic I understand as STAB, but what are the other 3 for? Metronome has NO place in a competitive team, unless you're hoping to get explosion with 2 HP left. Go with the swordsmew, although I definately suggest either Softboiled, Rest, or Explosion over any of the attacks that Frosty listed. Also, Mew is an UBER, meaning autoban from 100% of tournies. Miracleberry for Explosion, Leftovers for recovery.

    Kabutops Lv.65
Hard Rock (or w/e its called)
    Slash
    Hydro Pump
    Surf
    Ancient Power
Actually, Kabutops has an attack power to use, but that's it. Swords dance, HP Fighting/Submission (if you cant get a CCFF Kabutops), Frustration/Return, Filler. Sub? Dunno. Kabutops isn't all that usable in competition, so if you want a powerful sweeper, look towards a snorlax, maybe. @ leftovers

    Articuno Lv.65
    Bright Powder
    Razor Wind
    Ice Beam
    Fly (hopefully replace)(Icy Wind???)
    Blizzard
Articuno has a defense to use, a 4x weakness to screw it up, and a movepool worthy of the junk pile. You could go Pandora's box, but I'd not advise it, so Ice beam, Whirlwind, and maybe Reflect+Substitute? Dunno. If your team doesn't have much in the way of dealing status effects, toxic can be useful. again, @ lefties.

    Scizor Lv.43
    Metal Coat
Cut (or should I use slash???)
    Metal Claw
    Fury Cutter
    Pursuit
    Swords dance, and either:
Agility, Baton pass, HP bug/Steel Wing
    OR
    Agility, Endure, Reversal.

Your choice, first set demands leftovers, the latter prefers Miracleberry.
Scizor, like your other pokemon, has attack power to be wary of, but nothing much else.

    Ho-oh Lv.45
    Sacred Ash
    Fly
    Sacred Fire
    Fire Blast
    Recover
Ho-oh is also UBER, banning it from 100% of tournies and a majority of competitive plays. Fire attack of your choice, Thunderbolt, Earthquake, Recover is the standard, although I saw Shadow ball over Bolt before too. @, you guessed it, Leftovers.

    Bayleef Lv.43
    That seed thing
    Toxic
    Razor Leef/Giga Drain
    Solar Beam
    Iron Tail
Meganium is a support style pokemon, learning all of the screens. Of course, you could sweep with Swords dance, but I like

Leech Seed, Giga Drain/Razor Leaf, Synthesis, Body Slam

Much recovery in this set, with the PAR from Slam coming in all too useful.
    @ Leftovers.

A few things wrong with your theory of "OMFG I OWN YOU WITH ATTACK WHEN YOU STRATEGIZE"

-> Try Netbattle or GSBot for online competitive battling. Everyone's open to everything, making battles TRULY skill, not a competition of time wasting.
-> Strategy avoids your attacks. A curselax, for example, can own after a few curses as your attacks do less and less damage, and then rest off the damage, and attack with full health and an attack power high enough to be my ancestor.
    -> etc.

Anyways, from your current team of
    Mew
    Kabutops
    Scizor
    Articuno
    Ho-oh
    Meganium

    We can figure out a:

4x weak to Rock (Articuno, Ho-oh)
4x weak to Fire (Arti, Megan, Scizor)
3x weak to Electric (Arti, Houou, Kabu)
    Misc 2x weaknesses

Oh well... I never netbattled with GSCs ^^; And I'm certainly not familar with RBY/GSC enough to make a good team. Plus I forgot all the old standards now... Explosion mew I do remember though...

And now thinking of a game where all stats can be at species maximum.... that's just weird o.o; I'm just not used to seeing "Full EV" in both attack once again...

Should I replace my Articuno with a Haunter? or with a Crobat? or should i keep it? Any other suggestions for Pokemon to replace it with?

I'd definately get rid of the ubers first, and as for Articuno, I'm sure there are better pseudohazers like Donphan or Skarmory out there for use...

...unfortunately. I wish Nintendo had never had this 'ingenius' idea to cap EVs in R/S.

Personally, I just think 510 isn't high enough. Say, 650-700?

    Personally capping EV is quite nicely done imho... now you need to be careful and even more strategical to choose what stats to buff and so on. I like it o.o;

You're working harder for less though, and weak stats are becoming even weaker. Take Houndoom for example. His Defence is pretty lame to begin with, but with EVs concentrated into say, Special Attack and Speed, his Defence is becoming even more abismal.

I'm pretty sure my Absol would be lasting a lot longer than it is should it not have fallen victim to EV capping, and actually had stats that reflect its base stat values. And as far as attacking is concerned, you're now restricted to either physical or special skills, which is just plain boring, and a shame when you look at Pokemon like Camerupt.

Meh, what's done is done though. Cheers Nintendo. ;)

EV distro screws up pokemon that are known for being a balanced pokemon, such as Kingdra and Mew, because now they can't do anything.

And then there are the things that lack in something but could have made up with high power attacks (Fire blast lax) that couldn't even dream of it now.
