so, here's the first of my poems.

    Change

There was a deity that controls
The sun, and was a master of
War. People believed that he could burn
Out the sun, so he was worshiped
By an ancient tribe as the creator.
They offered their own for sacrifices,
And he was flattered. But he felt
Sorry for those poor souls, along
With the brave spirits that lost
    Their lives and battle and
Women that lost theirs in childbirth,
And turned them into birds of his own
Creation. The birds, of course, could
Move at the speed of the light
    That the deity himself emanates.
Their wings could flap fast and steady,
With the sound of a hum. The sacrifices
Lasted for decades, and then they stopped
When foreign people came. Over the
Years, flattery turned to hunger in the
Deity's mind, and was enraged when his
    Sacrifices stopped arriving. With savageness,
He went on a rampage, leaving very few
Alive. It took him years to realize what
He did. What have I done!?
Nobody can worship me and no sacrifices
    Either…
    he thought. But then
He spotted one of his creations flying from his
    Godly throne. My creations! Surely
    They'll worship me. That is,
If my hunger doesn't rise again.

He thought with a guile on his face.
    *********
    The first of the reincarnated
Birds had formed a counsel, and decided that
Their deity was different. He had changed.
So they tricked him into falling into a
    Deep slumber with the help
Of his sister and her sorcery.
And the deity's last thought was:
    I changed.
