I need some help changing the color and style of the health and experience bar.
I'm not sure where to start and I've looked around, but I've found nothing on how
    To do it.

Looking to do something like this

Can't put full link due to being new.

Using Fire Red for the edit.

Do you mean the HP and exp displays that show up during battles? If so, here are the relevant offsets:

    D1F340 - your Pokemon's display
    D1F604 - your opponent's display
D11B84 - the palette for both

Load your ROM in NSE 2.X, go to Navigate, enter those offsets and you should be good to go! Oh, and make them both 8 pixels height. They'll show up cut in half vertically, but you can still edit them as much as you like.

    That almost worked.

NSE opened it, but it tried to do it in grayscale.
I tried switching it to color and tried it that way.
Editing it either way caused the rom to crash upon opening.
I get a white screen instead of startup.

The color version palette doesn't seem right.
It's all blues and purples with a red background.

    Did I do something wrong?

I changed the background of the battle hp and exp
Bar (the box they are located in during battle).
