    If you are just getting into pokemon, just starting to lay competetivaly, or just getting back into pokemon, here are some basic card ratio guidlines.

    Pokemon:12-22
    this mainly depends on the deck, if the deck u build sets up fast, say a turn two deck, try useing only 12-15 pokemon. If your deck is running Holons Electrode/Magneton/Castform you will naturally have more pokemon in your deck, so dont sweat it. The advantage of running such a low number of pokemon in a deck is to increase consistancy. Of course your deck will be more versatile and flexable with a higher number of pokemon, but consistancy is what wins you games. Not versatility. Another thing to take note of is the number of pokemon types you throw into a deck. I suggest 2, but more is fine, as long as you run the appropriate energy.
    Suggested Pokemon: Jirachi (DX), Pidgeot (RG), Magcargo (DX)

    Trainers:22-30
    These cards are the most importaint part of the deck in my opinion, NOT the pokemon. The fact that so many trainers is put into so many decks, is to raise consistancy. Thats what this game is all about, consistancy. Your trainers should have all, if not most of your draw cards being supporters. This means that Great/Duel/Master/Poke ball are not reliable cards, they lower consistancy. about 1/3 to 1/2 of your trainer line should be supporters. With a large amount of draw cards, you will almost always get what you need, when you need it. 3-5 Stadiums are also assential for any deck, as they can take away an opponents advantage and replace it with your own unique advantage. When constructing your trainer line, think of ALL the situations that a particular card will have of use. Potion does not have many uses, and is extremely situational. Intead of that, maybe you should use Heal energy if you are too concerned about your pokemon getting hit.
    Suggested trainers: Stevens Advice, Rockets Admin, Holon Transceiver, Holon Mentor, Holon Scientist, Holon Adventurer, Rare Candy, Switch

    Energy:12-18
    Yes, this is no typo. If you have built your trainers line corretcly, you should have no problem drawing them all. If your deck has two types, even out your energy, make half of your basic energy one type and half of another. if using 4-5 types, it nust be an awsome build. Regardless, you may need 4 Rainbow energy. This makes your energy line cozier. Add in some Holons Electrode/Magneton/Castform, and you should have a stable energy setup. When counting how many types you have, do not include Colorless, any energy can provide colorless energy so do not waste time on it.
    Suggested energy:Scramble, Double Rainbow, Rainbow, Heal

    If you have any questions or comments Id be happy to explain some thing in greater detail for you.

    Interesting tips. Though I think you should type out how many basic pokemon need to be used in the deck and suck. Though most won't win the game all of the timel ike their stages, they are a important factor of the deck. You are right on the energys. Mostly 16-17 is used today, back from the Base Set. x_x;
