I don't think it's a silly question at all.
I've been drawing for two years, and recently have gotten into water colour painting. My dad and I have talked about this more than once before.
He keeps telling me to learn all kinds of different styles, because when someday, I start drawing to make money, it might not exactly be my favourite subject or style, but it's for the people. It's what the people want, not what I want. It may be digital art, it may be traditional, it might be a watercolour painting of a flower, it might be a tiger, it might be anime, it might be like a cartoon, it might be.. [insert here].
There are a lot of jobs for talented artists, but you'd have to get yourself known. Because, think -- there are SO many talented artists out there, striving for attention, fame, and fortune. You have to have some spice in your art that would make it unique, out-standing, original, or else you're really probably not going to get far. ^^'
I talked to the artist at Casa Bonita in April this year.. she was telling me how long she had been drawing, and that it's not all the time hard to find a job as an artist, since there are so many things you could do involving some kind of art. And she said that I should keep working towards my goal, just like she did.
